Last week I received a donation to buy books for local children, and I thought Jan's might be a good place to spend the money and support local business. However, the children I work with are bilingual English-Spanish-- like much of the Aloha community-- and when I asked if this store had any books in Spanish, the answer was a flat and cold "No." I was very disappointed that they had absolutely zero books in Spanish when so much of the local community would benefit from a place where they are welcomed to buy books in their language, especially when so many of these kids need more books at home. Why can't these kids be included here? I was also surprised to see that Jan's even has a program to support local schools by letting teachers use donated store credit to buy books for their classrooms. While I applaud this initiative, I also ask Jan's to please support ALL local schools and students, including those who speak Spanish.

I no longer receive the benefits at Powell's that used to be taken for granted. Jans has the greatest service, selection, and return policy in Washington County.

I LOVE this bookstore. They are my FIRST stop when looking for books. The selection is excellent and if they don't have the book your looking for they have options. They will check other sources and order it (used) or put it on hold for you when a copy is brought in! If you want it sooner, they will order a new copy, give you a discount and you usually have your book in 2 business days! 
Jan's also has terrific author events, where you actually get to meet and have a conversation with a published author! If you read this store is a must visit!

Debbie, Jill, and Jody offer the best personalized service in town! Need a new read and not sure where to start? Simply tell them what you like and they can point you in the right direction with PERSONAL recommendations. Jan's Paperbacks is also a HUGE supporter of local authors both traditionally and self published. I love their special events and I even do custom orders for my day job and other activities. Make the trek to Aloha. You won't be sorry.

I discovered Jan's while visiting an adjacent business.  With visions of musty dusty paperback bookstores I've visited before I was completely surprised.  Everything is immaculate, bright, organized and very cheerful.  The ladies at the front desk were very helpful finding my book club's selection that was not available at Powells my usual go to place.  I told my book club about Jan's and already two of them have visited.  I'll definitely be returning.
