I want to share how wonderful the music program is at JCC.  My sons started the program just six months ago in the Fall of 2015, the 6 year old with private piano lessons and the younger 4.5 year old in Instrument Exploration and Musical Explorers.   I am a working mom so I don’t get the opportunity to see my boys in class very often.  But every time I get a chance to take them during the week, I am always impressed by how great the environment and the ambience are.  There is so much positive energy in each student I see, hustling and bustling with their instruments to and from class, not to mention how great each class sounds.  It is great for my young boys, who get infected with the same type of energy.   

Also, the staff and the teachers are very conscientious and take pride in their teaching and their students.  Michael, the Associate Director, is always on-site and very hands-on to ensure everything is running smoothly.  

My 6 year old son, who is taking private piano lessons, already had his first recital last month after only 3 months of lessons, playing two pieces which were certainly NOT Twinkle Twinkle.  This is a music program that requires commitment by both the parent and the student, and taken when both are ready to learn and cultivate the love of music and talent.  I am really looking forward to seeing my sons mature musically and flourish through the JCC programs.  So far, what I have seen at the Thurnauer School of Music at JCC is first-class.

Facility is great, teachers & staffs are excellent, they even have a nice café inside the center.

The JCC Thurnauer School of Music provides wonderful and unique programs.  One of the highlights of the school is their Master Class Series which provides young musicians the incredible opportunity to learn and interact with world class musicians and teachers.  In addition, the standing teachers at the JCC are also very insightful in their understanding of how to develop the musical talents of their attending students.  The programs love of music make it a wonderful place for young musicians to learn and develop an appreciation of music.

The Sylvia and Jacob Handler Master Class series at JCC on the Palisades have a long history of attracting world-class masters to teach the music lovers no only the techniques, but the appreciation of music at a high level. This year is no different. Our daughter, Sophia, was fortunate to be selected to take the violin master class from Mrs. Almita Vamos. Her wisdom and unique way to communicate with every student are impressive and inspiring. Sophia loved it! And I have no doubt that Sophia will cherish this special experience in her music life. Thank you Mrs. Vamos! And thank you JCC!
