Story

JFK Medical Center was originally named John F. Kennedy Hospital as the first memorial to our nation's 35th president in 1966.

Growing with the community, JFK Medical Center has evolved into a multi-campus medical center, with four locations throughout Palm Beach County.

Our Main Campus in Atlantis is a 486-bed acute care medical and surgical facility known for our Comprehensive Services including: 24-Hour Emergency Services, Cardiovascular Care, Cancer Care, Breast Care, Neurosciences, Stroke Care, General, Minimally Invasive & Robotic Surgery, Orthopedic Care, Spine Care, Bariatrics, Sleep Disorders, Wound Management, Behavioral Health and Obstetrics.

JFK Medical Center North Campus, the latest addition to our family, is a 245-bed acute care hospital, with an adjoining 88-bed psychiatric unit, and a medical professional office building. JFK North is the largest provider of Behavioral Health services in Palm Beach County.

We also offer two off-site Emergency Rooms in Palm Beach Gardens and West Boynton Beach. These facilities offer 24 hour care for emergent conditions in adults and children. They provide the same emergency treatment as our hospital based ER's, just closer to home.

We are pleased to continue to receive recognition as a quality hospital with our designations by the Joint Commission as a certified primary stroke center, as well as being recognized as one of the 2014 and 2015 Truven Health Top 50 Cardiovascular hospitals in the Country. This prestigious annual award honors hospitals that have led the way with superior performance in cardiovascular service in four key areas: outcomes of care, service-line efficiency, financial performance, and core measures alignment.

JFK Medical Center is committed to providing quality, cost-effective healthcare to the communities we serve.

Gave birth to my daughter last November 2016, I was very happy with my choice and I would make it again for sure. The nurses were amazing and accommodating!! Very informative as well, they read my birth plan, were very supportive and helped me through everything, I felt like I was definitely in good hands. The rooms were private and very spacious for family and friends. My only complaint was toward my doctor, but let me be clear the Hospital is not to blame. If I would've chosen someone who would've actually shown up, their would be no complaint. The doctor on call didn't know me and was rude, he didn't bother to read my birth plan, just glanced at it (I didn't ask for much, or anything unreasonable.) He sat there the whole time on his phone until it was "time" and refused to let me give birth my way. My ONLY regret is NOT going psycho on his ass by yelling at him to leave my room immediately and let me delivery my child on my own (with the assistance of the nurses of course.) I had asked for a completely natural birth in ANY position except on my back. Which was very important to me.

I have to side with the negative reviews of this facility. Specifically: Lack of visitor parking. There's plenty of parking if you're a doctor. Airport-style security - Slow, invasive, and spectacularly unnecessary. No chairs in the rooms - It's obvious that JFK wants to do everything they can to make visiting as painful as possible and I believe that's deliberate. The Masters of Overcharges - You will get big bills with no explanation or supporting documentation. You can't dispute them without talking to someone in billing but billing never answers the phone or returns calls. Brilliant! Before West Palm took on the JFK name, it was a better hospital. Now that it's JFK North, the service has degraded to match JFK MC. So, this is no accident and specific to the JFK name. JFK is a living, breathing example of why we should socialize medicine in this country.

One of the worst hospitals I have ever experienced. My mother is currently there, and I have seen mostly nurses and doctors (not all) who could care less about the patient. This the second time in the last year my mother has been treated like a disposable napkin. My mother was moved out of ICU into a unit where I walked down empty hallways. Two days later she was moved back down to ICU due to a doctor stating she was not ready to be moved out. Are you guys not reading all of the same complaints about your hospital? How would you like to be treated, or your loved ones to be treated like this? Not enough staff, and incapable of getting a complete answer from someone. Last straw was finding my mother in a bed of old feces, and a catheter which was not strapped to her leg and cause trauma to her bladder from moving around. I visited her the next day after they moved her, and saw her bag filled with blood, and guess what? The nurse blamed it on the patient. My mother can not bend, nor be mobile on her own. You need to invest in a better staff, and possibly staff who will care of the patients as if they were their own loved ones. Also, some of the older nurses have such a nasty jaded attitude towards any questions asked. You chose to have a career in the medical field, and the territory of having to answer to concerned family should've been expected. Maybe getting someone in there to clean house should be evaluated as soon as possible.

Two years have passed now as of this week and I continue focus on the rude and unprofessional conduct of the staff who were attending to my husband of 36years in the cardiac Cath lab. The end result of the procedure was that "his heart ruptured and we couldn't save him" At one point the nurse had no problem coming to me to tell me "the doctor wants you to know it doesn't look good" as she then proceeded to walk away I ask to be with him and was denied to stand with him because of "policy". I saw the fear in his eyes and heard his plea for me to stay with him but as a nurse myself knew I had to wait outside during the procedure and I assured him I would be right there. However as a nurse myself I can not imagine being told by a doctor to go and give the heads up that "it doesn't look good" and then in good conscious be able to deny that need to spend those final moments together. Policy does not account for such heartless behavior. I can not forgive myself and continue to suffer the fact of not being there for him. The treatment after they brought him to me was even worse. I still see him with the tube in his mouth, arms hanging down over the stretcher, and all they could tell me was " you need to remove his jewelry. To this day I would never again set foot in this hospital.
