I've used John Baines company for 10 years to do my personal and business taxes. I've always felt comfortable, and they go the extra distance. Running a small business takes a lot of hard work, and the last thing I want to do is have to worry about bookkeeping and taxes. Simone has always done a great job with our state taxes and our federal taxes. Sarah has been wonderful with bookkeeping. The relationship I have with John Baines is vital to my companies success!

John has been my CPA since I moved to Denton in 2001. He is so easy to work with and his staff is such a pleasure. He handles my taxes for 2 corporations, 1 LLC and my personal returns. They also handle my payroll, quarterly taxes etc... I would highly recommend using John and his staff.

Worst CPA I've ever had. We tried to get them to handle payroll for our business. I talked to John a total of one time in the 4 months we worked with them. The rest of the time he was unavailable and we were forced to make appointments with his bookkeeper/office manager who wasn't competent enough in finance to answer even the most basic questions. Some of the issues we had with them were: 1. They could not get us set up EFTPS for our payroll tax payments because they couldn't correctly enter our name into the system. After blaming this error on our bank for several weeks the bank finally realized John Baines office mistake and asked them to correct it. Throughout the course of this they kept assuring us that they were taking care of our payroll taxes. They were not. We owed delinquent payroll taxes dating back for months because of their error which put us in bad standing with the IRS and finally caused us to just send paper checks to them. 2. Myself the owner of the company was told that I could not hire myself as an employee under an LLC. An answer which despite my own explanation to the office manager the procedure for doing this by filing as a corporation and separately filing as an employee was told I could not do it. This is a common practice that should be known by every CPA. But I was repeatedly told I could not do this. And eventually given the option months later a few weeks before tax time when it was much too late to do so. 3. They consistently misinformed us about our direct deposit information and we ended up paying out several thousand dollars which we will never recover to employees that had quit or been fired long after they were no longer with the company. This was because they gave our bank account information to third party accounting outfits like quickbooks and natpay to set up direct deposit. Which they used to debit funds directly out of our account because John Baines office did not bother to follow up with them and tell them that employees were no longer with the company and to stop the debits. This once again was because of an error by John Baines office in which they told us that direct deposit couldn't be cancelled once payroll was turned in. To be clear we turn payroll in on Tuesday and they told us they couldn't cancel direct deposit on Friday. Which again was false. They just didn't know the procedure for doing this through the third party system they were using. A mistake that not only misled us but also cost us several thousand dollars and has severely muddied up our payroll taxes because we've now paid employees that haven't been with the company for weeks. 4. They have since admitted their many errors. And are now refusing any reconciliation or future meetings with us to discuss damages. I would not recommend them for anything. Even the most simple 1040EZ tax returns. They will not find you any tax benefits and will likely get you audited while talking down to you the entire time.
