Flat, desolate, quiet. Not necessarily bad, but if you're looking for a place with lots of activities, this is not it. There are very few amenities. We stopped by to eat lunch on our way back to KS from Colorado Springs. It was hot with absolutely NO SHADE anywhere. If it had been windy, there would be no where to get out of the wind.

One of the most amazing Camp-sites we've been to in Colorado so far!
The trees are all LARGE mature trees, it reminded us of Southern Plantations in movies when we drove through to our campsite. It is a hidden oasis below the level of the plains around it. The amenities are great, the fishing was cool (Kiddo caught a delicious fish for dinner), and the surrounding small businesses are super quaint. We recommend the small live-bait shop half-way down from the main road. The staff is super nice!

Busy spot with a lot of people in the main camp ground which wasn't what I was looking for, and kind of expensive.  Yet there is an upper camp ground, the road to get there is easier with four or all wheel drive but not impossible and its much more secluded and quiet. Beautiful water and views though with nice breeze over the water.

Nice campground,  with territorial views of the Dam and water. Great camp hosts make it even better. Afternoon gusty winds can make tent setup a little challenging. 😉 Bring bug repellent!
