Story

John's Grill is an upscale, neighborhood dinner restaurant that features fresh seasonal seafood specials daily and New York and filet steaks that are hand cut by John himself. John also makes his own veal and chicken stocks as the basis for his flavorful sauces and demi-glace. Everything is made from scratch and John's signature dessert, the white and dark chocolate mousse, makes it worth finishing your meal with dessert! The restaurant ambiance is quiet, cozy and the walls are filled with beautiful paintings by John's wife's uncle, Wash. D.C. artist, Val Lewton.

We went to John's Grill for my father's birthday on 7/25/2017. Initially there were seven tables that were occupied and two waiters. We had five people at our table. Drinks were served initially, and orders were taken about fifteen minutes after we were seated. At that time I ordered a glass of wine, which took about fifteen minutes to receive. It was not busy, our waiter seemed distracted. Another fifteen minutes passed and two of our party ordered a drink. The waiter returned after about ten minutes and served the drinks to the wrong person. Forty-five minutes after we placed our order the server delivered our meals one or two plates at a time. Three people in our group ordered a steak, some rare, medium rare, or medium. All three steaks were cooked the same, about medium. My meal was the seafood Linguine, very salty, and I love salt. The meal was to include crab, which I did not find in the dish. Bottom line, I will not return, mostly horrible attention by the wait staff, seemed distracted. Food, was good, but not great, particulary for the price. We cook better steaks at home

The food was pretty good. 6pm on a Friday and we felt bad for the few employees that were there. The staff was overwhelmed which resulted in the lack of timely service. It was a hectic visit on our first visit.

We came here based on the reviews and maybe they were having an off night but we were highly disappointed.  It wasn't totally packed and our service was less than great.  It took 15 minutes to get our wine brought to us.  The food took 45 minutes to come out.  3 people ordered steaks 3 different ways and they all came out medium rare.  The food was good but not overwhelming and for the price point I expected more.

Very poor service 
Food was cold even burger buns felt like it came straight from the fridge 
When asked to see a manager I was told he was busy....
We will never go back for sure.
