We were there mid-July, when it was about 115 outside, arriving around 5ish and it was busy already. Cozy popular "joint" with large portions of flavorful food. This has a "Cheers" kind of vibe but is tiny with a few outdoor tables, for when the temps allow. Inside, the place seats about 27 people maximum. There was someone lingering in the doorway waiting for someone to leave the entire time and many chose to move on choosing not to wait. With one bartender also acting as hostess and server, it was alot for her to keep up. She busted her butt and was on top of making drinks, taking orders, serving and keeping the lingerers calm as they waited for a spot to open. The food was plentiful and very tasty. We ordered the nachos, which could have been our entire meal just two of us and then I had shrimp tacos, which were large and there were two and it came with a salad! I had to get a box. My husband had the French dip, which was very tasty. Come early or wait! This place has many regulars who do that. My only criticism is they could have turned tables faster and not been turning away customers if they had one server in addition to the bartender. Parking: Street parking is hit or miss depending what time it is and what month it is.
I brought my mom to Scottsdale for Mother’s Day. On our third night we wanted something, low-key, light, and delicious that we both could enjoy. From the moment we stepped in, Heidi and Wick’s energy lit up the space. It was the most welcoming atmosphere I’ve experienced perhaps at any food establishment. Seriously, try to dream up a local place where service is top tier, the food is scratch-made, there’s tons of history, and the team anticipates every need, and you have Karsen’s Grill! This little gem is tucked away in Old Town, but represents all the things Scottsdale should want to be front and center—good food, good people, and excellent service. I’ll be back anytime I’m in the Scottsdale area. Dietary restrictions: Great for us pescatarians!
We were recommended to try Karsen's for dinner by the bouncer at the rusty spur, and we were not disappointed! When we first arrived, the place was packed and we were told it would be a 20 minute wait, so we walked around to a wine bar nearby and had a drink. When we got back, we were seated instantly. Our server was great, he was very helpful and pleasant. Every single thing we ordered was phenomenal. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that wants a great meal at a good price. I am sad that I live across the country and can't eat here more often!!
Felt like I was at Cheers the bar from the show. The staff is so friendly and you can tell they take care of their patrons. Highly recommend, great place to have some bites and enjoy a game.Food: 5/5
I had the nachos and would rate them at 4.7 out of 5. The second best nachos I ever had! The flavor and mix of ingredients was excellent. The only shortcoming was that it was served in a small dish and so many nachos had nothing on them. Otherwise, most excellent! My wife had the chicken sandwich. The sandwich a 5/5. The fries 4/5. Service was excellent.
Came here to try their french dip and fries. wow. Im in love they were both so delicious. There fries were amazing and the french dip had such great flavor and the bread was perfectly crunchy.Food: 5/5
The place was tiny and a little crowded but the food was worth the cons! Must get the nachos and the chili burger! Will definitely go back but anticipate some wait time to be seated.Food: 5/5
Everything is made from scratch except the onion rings, which are still darn good. Heidi is an absolute gem of a server/bartender. Prices for drinks are reasonable. Food prices are a touch on the high end, but since it's a scratch kitchen, it's well worth a few extra bucks. We definitely will be back!
An unexpected find in Old Town Scottsdale when looking for a late evening eatery. It's bar food, but not your typical bar food - it's much, much better. Varied and creative choices served in a cozy atmosphere. Well worth a stop at this hole-in-the wall eatery.Food: 5/5
Food was great! Huge portion sizes so bring your appetite and prepare for take home boxes! Small space - seating for only about 30-40 folks outside of the bar seating. Service was quick and efficient, super fun staff. Ideal for a Day Date for couples - especially if you don't want to miss a game on tv! Dietary restrictions: Accommodated my shellfish allergy.
