First off, the family that runs this place are the sweetest people in the world. Second, there is a piano on a raised platform behind the bar, and the owner's son is a great piano player you can ask when they're not busy. Finally, I could talk about the food, but you just need to go experience for yourself. Short ribs and pork skewers were solid staples. The batter on the Mochiko chicken special was delicious, and I'd want that batter on veggies and desserts as well. The custard pie special they had for dessert the night I went was super soft, fluffy, and not too sweet how I like my desserts. Parking: Street parking along Main Street and other cross streets are metered, but check the signs and city website for free hours. There's a parking deck around the corner if you can't find street parking. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a small step up at the main entrance of the restaurant, but if you ask the staff, they might be able to help out.
My new favorite place for legit Hawaiian food. Had today's special, chicken adobo, and side ahi poke, rice, mac salad, lumpia, mochiko chicken, and custard pie to top it off. Island music playlist was a nice treat as well. Felt like I was back in Hawaii, but at the fraction of the cost. Follow their Facebook page to learn what the daily specials are. Ahi poke was my favorite... tasted just like home! Big scoop, too! I'm looking forward to Lau lau, chicken long rice, or pastele stew next time. Never hung out in Covington before. Really nice spot... like OTR but spacious. I'm definitely visiting again when I can make the 45-minute drive. Amazing experience... talk story with everybody for 2-3 hours, catch up on Hawaii memories and news.
Had an absolutely wonderful dinner here! The spicy spam was a great starter, and we both got Aloha Plates - 1 with Poke and Potato Mac salad, and the other with Brisket and the spicy papaya salad along with custard pie as a dessert. Everything and I mean everything was delicious! Could not recommend enough. The prices and service were both outstanding too. We will definitely be back!!
Wow, from the moment we walked in and were greeted with a warm hello, we felt that Aloha spirit! Reasonably priced $2 for a Diet Coke! and extremely filling my husband and I split the Kanack attack and are still filled. Everything we tasted was delicious and the food came out extremely fast. Just wish there was an ocean to look out on as I enjoyed my Musubi, but looking at the interesting streets of MainStrausse will have to do! Do yourself a favor and support this place, you’ll leave stuffed and with a smile.
From the moment you walk in, you feel an instant sense of welcome! Could not say ANYTHING but positive things about the service! The food was delicious! My spouse had the loco moco, which he said took him straight back to Hawaii! I had an aloha box with the salmon and papaya salad. The salmon was delicious, and the papaya salad was wonderful! Just a touch of spice in the salad, a mild spice that brought lovely flavor. Will definitely return to try more
We ordered take out and got the Kalua pig plate with mac salad, rice, lumpia, tuna poke, kalua pork sliders, and short rib. The poke and short rib were very good. The Kalua pig was good, but I was a bit disappointed with the mac salad. It did not seem any different than a typical macaroni salad at a bbq. Overall we enjoyed it and would return. It’s hard to find Hawaiian food in this area!
Gem of a find while working away from home. I'm always on the lookout for good hawaiian style plate lunch eateries. I didn't even know this place existed and found it by chance, driving by. The food takes me back to my island home, and the only thing missing is a surf session before lunch. The owner and his family who run this establishment are super nice, and the pidgin came right out of me while conversing with Val, the owner, like I never left the islands. Fantastic food, fantastic people. Kealohas will be a spot I'll get to every chance I get. Mahalo!!
Food was delicious and unique. I love the variety of the menu. The service was exceptional throughout my dining experience. I was checked on by different staff to see how I was doing. They were very hospitable and kind.Food: 4/5
I don’t think I have a negative thing to say, you get what you pay for, it’s delicious, down to the sides and lumpia, and this was my first for Hawaiian style cuisine, and it was delicious :Food: 5/5
I don't know what I expected, but it exceeded that! This visit was my first exposure to Hawaiian food, so I'm not sure how to compare it in that regard. I enjoyed all the dishes we tried, especially the Spam rice seaweed dish; also my first time having spam. I put a little of the sweet Thai chili on it, and I wish I had gotten more than one. Dessert was a cake type dish that tasted like bread pudding, super tasty! We also had the opportunity to learn some Hula dancing with Sarah Gorak, that was so exciting. Definitely need to come back and try some more!
