Just read the news or watch some television. As a graduate, I'm not at all surprised about the removal of quotes that were not offensive in any manner. They even deleted the ability to write reviews on Facebook in response to the outcry of support for the two students affected. The district prides itself on athletics and does not support the arts or sciences to the extent surrounding districts do. The preparation for college lags behind surrounding districts and extracurricular activities are left with little funding or support. The teachers are placed in uncomfortable positions and not supported by administrators when it comes to their students and the passions those students have. This district needs to look in the mirror and make a change to be more accepting and supportive or risk losing their best and brightest teachers and students.

Since I have lived here (8 years) my two daughters have gone here since they were little kids in the first grade. The are now both in the 9th grade. Something I've noticed is that they are generally very tired after school. I asked them why, and they explained to me that their teacher, Dana Lentz, told them to run not one mile, but two. This is sad. I expect better from Kearney.
