Love this outpost of Hong Kong bakery chain (original in Hong Kong est. 1938) for nostalgic value - and tasty egg tarts (flaky and crispy shells), Portuguese egg tarts, ‘wife cake’, Hong Kong milk tea, signature moon cakes when in season, and latest nostalgic gift sets like the treats tin shaped like a classic double decker bus from Hong Kong (now if only they will do a version with the tram).

We had to park in a different lot and walk around the corner. I'm not sure if angle parking was the best choice for their lot. You basically have to back out the entire length of the lot. They had lots of tasty pastries. We bought some in a gift box and several breakfast buns with different fillings. The shop is both popular and small, so expect to spend a while navigating between other patrons.

Their cakes are not too sweet.  My family like their meat pies.  They have chicken pie, bbq pork pie, and curry pork pies.  I like their egg tart more than 85c.

One of the best bakeries in town, it's basically impossible to go wrong with anything at Kee Wah.

Parking is definitely annoying, so I recommend parking in the 99 Ranch Plaza and taking the walk or better yet, park on the street. 

Once inside, you're always greeted by the aroma of fresh bread and an extensive array of delicious pastries and baked goods. (Larger variety than the Monterey Park location.) Some items are so fresh, they are still on the racks to cool, so don't be shy to ask and/or to grab a pair of tongs to help yourself. The store is cramped though, so be patient. 

The cakes are delivered fresh every day and are universally DELICIOUS. The cake itself is airy, light, not overwhelmingly sweet. Fruits are usually canned, but of good quality. They can even write a name in a cherry flavored sauce on top, if you request it. Most have dark chocolate sprinkles on the outside as well.

Hot treats are in a glass display case, and ALL OF THEM are good. There are two types of goodies sold: egg tarts and pastry pies. Both are a must try. The egg tarts are baked perfectly with the savory custard resting in the crust of your choice. The pies are well-balanced with the pastry crust surrounding a nicely seasoned meat filling of your choice. Not the most sensational flavoring, perhaps, but it's a happy medium. 

The moon cakes are also a signature favorite. Expensive as they are (especially compared to other bakeries locally and other brands sold in local markets), the sheer quality and taste is UNRIVALED AND UNPARALLELED. The premium price you pay for them means there is almost never a bad one (only one such cake in many years of purchases) and an exceedingly great shelf life if it's too decadent to finish quickly (the calories and sugar can add it quickly if you're not careful, but this is definitely a good "cheat" food). The taste of every single filling is delicious, regardless of your preference. Absolutely worth the splurge if you can afford it (and they are available year round).

Simply put, if you need to find a classic Hong Kong bakery that's well loved among the locals, with high quality goods statewide and fresh products every day, look no further than Kee Wah.
