It's been a million years and a global pandemic, but besides the outside seating, Kelly's hasn't changed. It was great to just sit at the bar and pretend this was the same bar from years ago. Still great bartenders. Still great food. My go-to used to be Jameson neat and a basket of tots, but I've gotten old. Now I order wine in a can, a Greek salad superb ...and a basket of tots. Hey, not that old. It was great to be back and I'm thrilled the motorcycle is still there. Thanks for the fuzzy memories!
Awesome little dive bar that's open late, with a very cool and unique ambiance. Old motorcycles hang from the ceiling in this low lit, old school bar. The craft beer selection is good and the spirit selection is even better. I enjoyed a few drinks, great service and even a game of Ms. Pac-Man. I love stumbling upon awesome bars like this. If you do too, this is the spot for you.
A super cute old Motorsports themed bar with music venue. Bright red neon lights, full sized motorcycles hanging from the ceiling await you! My experience was super friendly staff, from the security guy who checked my ID, every bartender, the lady who sold me a ticket to the performance. I was so impressed I bought two shirts and stayed a lot longer than I normally would. Even the patrons were super nice. I can also recommend the steak quesadilla, it was cooked to perfection. Being from Texas, it’s hard to enjoy Tex mex anywhere else but they really nailed down a great flavor here, the bartender agreed that it was the best thing on the menu. The meat wasn’t cooked too long or chewy like most places do. I had a mule fantastic and a Paloma meh from the bar, and the bartender I had took his time to make genuine small talk. I never felt rushed or he was unhappy about being at work. It wasn’t a busy night though, either. I really felt comfy at a bar and later at the show as a single female patron, in what I was told by a local was in the “sketchiest part of Portland.” I can’t tell you how amazing that was, in of itself. Houston has a lot to learn! They have a working photo booth, a non working pinball machine, lots of comfy bar seating and regular tables and booths for such a small place. I didn’t have to turn sideways anywhere. The bathrooms and stalls were also a nice size. Very diverse line up for talen on stage, we had rap, folk rock and indie alt rock. The write ups of the bands that night were really done well and they had three different groups. Several of us in the crowd were talking about how the website showed Girlfriend on the Moon playing at 8 pm, but they were the headliners and didn’t start until 9 pm. It wasn’t a big deal but we were all a little confused at the lineup vs. time listed on the website. It served as an interesting talking point . Serious homeless population right outside, so be sure to leave nothing visible in your car, not even a phone cable. There were tents literally across the street from the bar. They didn’t bother me or my car but you will be in close proximity to the homeless population pretty much anywhere you go in Portland proper. Don’t let the homeless detract you from coming to this area. I had no problem walking around at 10 pm by myself, and I saw several other women doing the same in the area that night.
Cool venue. Got a Guinness but it didn't taste right and the bartender poured it 50% foam first off. He re-poured it but it still wasn't great. The beer was sour and tasted rotten which is something I've never had from any bar that served Guinness. Honestly couldn't finish the drink and left it there. The other patrons seemed to enjoy the other beers though.
One of my favorite dive bars! Great place to grab a beer with friends or catch a show at the little venue in the bar. They've got a pretty basic food menu for them good drunchies. Also love the aesthetic of the place with motor bikes hanging from the ceiling
We went to Kelly’s Olympian last night for dinner. We ordered the bacon guacamole burger, country burger, and the grilled cheese w/tomato soup. Everything was delicious. I like the photo booth too!
Very unique bar with pinball machines, a photo booth, and even slot machines In the back. Besides those the bar itself is wonderful. Neon signs and motorcycles hang around the bar, and some fantastic bartenders. Visit here if your in Portland.
Awful awful awful!! I was visiting this town with my friend and we seen Kelly's was top pick in town. 2 security guards immediately approached me and said I was inebriated and iterated they didn't know how much alcohol we consumed and denied us service. First of all WRONG. and since when do you deny people service on the basis of consumption. Absolutely rude. Do not go here. Presumptuous and absurd. Goodluck
Thursday night me and my girlfriend came here completely sober the security guy was a major A-hole. He refused my ID and went on to argue with me when I asked if there was a way to actually verify this seeing as how It is in fact real. He Insisted it was a fake, and gave some reasoning about the placement of one of the black light images in the back I have a Montana ID I’m 27 and have never had an issue with my completely legitimate ID before. I’ve been drinking at this place multiple times before with no incident.I understand he was attempting to do his job and I accepted his incorrect judgment call and had no interest in arguing back with this man. But what sticks with me is that he was super rude for no reason.
Great vibe, Thursday night here enjoying a few gin and tonics. Well made. Music's not too loud, was able to meetup with a friend and have a good conversation but not in awkward silence, or yelling. I'll be back for sure.
