I really wanted to like it. I've got some experience with both West African and Caribbean foods, and there's some crossover at Keobi. But at least what I got was not great. I used to raise goats, and I literally didn't know it was possible for goat to get that fatty. And $51 for the two plates shown at lunch time is ridiculous. Follow up: The owners responded with "we don't raise our own animals," and of course that's obvious, but they do have the option of using decent cuts of meat and not chunks of fat.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Keobi restaurant and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience. The restaurant offers authentic and delicious African cuisine that truly captures the essence of the flavors and spices of the continent. From the moment I stepped in, the customer service was exceptional, with a warm and friendly staff who went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. What impressed me even more was the affordability of the menu, making it accessible for everyone to indulge in the culinary delights of Africa. Keobi restaurant is a hidden gem that I highly recommend for anyone seeking a unique and flavorful dining experience.

I recently visited Keobi African Restaurant in New York, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. From the moment I walked in, the vibrant atmosphere and warm greetings from the staff made me feel right at home. The menu presented a wide variety of authentic African dishes, each more tempting than the last. I decided on a traditional jollof rice with succulent goat meat, and it did not disappoint. The flavors were bold and perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of spice. What truly set Keobi apart was their attention to authenticity and quality. It's evident that they use fresh ingredients and take great care in the preparation of their food. The service was impeccable as well; the staff were knowledgeable about the dishes and eager to offer recommendations.
- I had to continuously explain small details That’s required a yes or no from whoever was working the phone . If you’re going to do business in this country respectfully , you should be able to clearly communicate in the native language especially servicing the natives of this land - the bag broke as soon as i went to open it which makes it cheap quality - the “VEGAN FOOD “ they claim To make actually had small bone cartilage and small pieces of meat in it . I called to confirm everything was vegan. the Edaikaikong soup was advertised and communicated to be vegan online , on Grubhub and their website and the person working the phones even said it was . It isn’t . I bit on a really hard piece of what seemed to be , bone cartilage and i have evidence . The sound was so loud my husband asked me was i okay , what was that extremely loud sound when i was chewing . He’s actually in the bathroom now extremely sick as we practice Ramadan and tried supporting a local business . Now i see the shadiness and scam and the environment and staff truly reflects that even after our patience with our food being late . How dare you disrespect our dietary restrictions and guidelines and religious values? I will definitely be reporting you to the proper authorities and even looking into the legalities of this because i too am not feeling well . I am truly tired of these so called businesses especially of people who aren’t native of this country trying to get over on the native people and not practicing good business . It has nothing to do with being disrespectful on my end honest to god i have been trying to even research how To cook it myself to incorporate in my everyday but i am noticing a common trend . All we wanted was to support and experience a piece of what your culture had to bring but this is how you represent ? I do not mind saying all this face to face as well . Looking through these reviews is too disgraceful . Karma doesn’t skip a soul . Dietary restrictions: Vegan diet ordered Edaikaikong soup and the plaintain fufu wasn’t plaintain it was regular fufu and we were up charged
The prices look a little high, but the food is well worth it. We had the peanut butter soup with goat and it was fantastic! The flavor was amazing and the goat was tender. My friend and I went in right when they opened and the service was helpful, warm, and friendly. The dining area feels empty, but with some soft surfaces to absorb sound, it'd be a comfortable place to eat this delicious food. 5 stars. Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible; step up into the restaurant.
The service was great and the wait time for my order was relatively quick. The wait staff was courteous and the food itself was excellent. Vegetarian options: Moi-moi, beans porridge, plantains, vegetables dishes.
I always experience exceptional cuisine and unparalleled hospitality at Keobi. The flavors are exquisite, the service impeccable. The owner's personal touch, ensuring satisfaction and welcoming feedback, elevates the dining experience. Amidst charming decor, indulge in delectable dishes and feel the warmth of Africa. A perfect blend of taste, service, and ambiance awaits you at this delightful gem.
Absolutely wonderful experience! The food was amazing and the person behind the counter was patient with us since it was our first time. Do allow some time since they make everything from scratch at time of order, this is not fast food. We were there for around an hour for lunch. Either that or order ahead of time. Everything was so flavorful. We'll definitely be back!
It was simply home away from Home. The dried fish was awesome and well prepared. A must stop by for anyone visiting from Nigeria like myself.Food: 5/5
