I always thought it was great that we have a small hardware store in our local community. This small town businesses is one of the few that allows me to run in and get what I need at the last minute when I am working around the house on my only day off. It saves me a trip to town and a good bit of the precious time I have to spend with my family. That is why I normally don't mind paying a little bit more than a bigger chain store. I love the fact that I am supporting a local business. I don't mind giving my hard earned money to someone working just as hard as me. However, today I walked out of this hardware store feeling defeated. I walked in and the 2 people standing at the register( not busy) saw me, and looked me in the face and didn't acknowledge me or say hey or hi or welcome. I walked around looking for what I needed. Again, no one else in the store and not one person offered me any help and it was clear I was having trouble finding what I came in for. However I wrote it off as maybe they had a bad day or maybe they were trying to get home to their family. So I kept looking by myself until I finally found what I needed which was right in the front near the employees. I walked to the register, checked out and again nothing was said not even a smile or a thank you. I had to get what I needed in a hurry or I would have just left and gone to town. But this is where I felt defeated as a man that is trying to support my community. As I walked out, no come again or thank you for your business. NOTHING!!!! Yet, when I was leaving another gentleman was coming in and before he could enter the door he was greeted with a nice and friendly "Hey how are you doing ?" .. I normally do not believe in throwing the race card for the simple fact that my family is made up of 3 or more races and it is used to loosely on the media. I try to teach my children that the world can be bigger than that. However the employees made it quite clear to me it wasn't just about them having a bad day or giving poor customer service, because the black man was treated one way and the white gentleman who walked in after me was greeted in such a manner that proved to me what the issue really was. It's hard to own a local small town store and thrive in this economy as it is, one would think that any support given by a local customer would be appreciated. Well, not today. Time for everyone to understand that people need to be treated for who they are ...A hardworking, paying customer,. It doesn't matter if I'm purple or blue white black or a combination of all 4! ...my money spends the same way! My suppport comes from the same place. I hope no one working here today ever feels the way I did when I walked out of this store. A smile and good customer service goes a long way in our world. This situation could have been different if I was looked at as a customer trying to help support your business when I had many other places I could have gone and spent less.

Went in this morning for a part to fix an issue at my daughters school. The help that I received was exceptional and the price of the part was taken care of for me also. This store represents the old time care and customer service that we don't see very often at other places. On top of having almost everything I need when I go in, the staff are very helpful in making sure I get the right part. This "small town store" definitely represents the community very well.

Being a small town they have a large variety of different types of items that can help you finish your project on time. They even sell propane which is very convenient where I live.
