Denise Webster has been doing the taxes for all our businesses for years. She is a brilliant CPA, organized person, and a wonderful individual that I consider a friend. Denise is retiring in a few years, and in her transition she has turned some of our taxes over to Mary Hlebechuk. I have found Mary to be top notch also. She is knowledgeable and is transitioning perfectly.
It bums me out writing this review. My best friend’s dad growing up used to work here and he always did my grandma’s taxes. I brought my business to SD and used Jennifer for years. I was patient with the firm when they needed to file extensions because they were too busy, I was patient when they took a while to respond to me, I was patient as they brought in newer, more high-maintenance personalities, I was patient when they made tax mistakes, and I was patient when I brought complicated business acquisition questions they didn’t have answers to. I paid their fees even though they were higher compared to the market average. For my patience, they cut me as a client. I know our business is complicated and confusing to them. I wish I would’ve known they weren’t as patient as I was up front. I wouldn’t recommend them. They are a different company now and no longer have those small town values I sought in bringing my business here. It’s no longer my friend’s dad doing taxes for my grandma, these guys are profit focused. It’s hard to watch.
Ketel Thorstenson has been doing my business taxes for the past 6 years and they do a great job! I had bad experiences with tax preparation firms in the past, and with KT I know everything is being taken care of.
I turned in my taxes to these people in February of 2021and they didn’t get a hold of me till august well after the tax season and tell me they don’t have what they needed to finish them. I ask why did it take over six months to realize this?? We’re they not due in April. They tried to push the blame on to me and tell me that I didn’t hold my end up but in fact they had not even looked to see if the info was there for six months I should have been at least notified of the situation and for them not to tell me for so long I know they just had started to work on it and it was way past the deadline. Then after a couple of back and forth emails they tell me I am fired as a client and to find some one who is capible since the y were not. So I went to H&R Block and the had no problems with the tax info and didn’t understand what was going on with them. Never the less they got done but the incident with them dropping the ball ended up with me having to pay more money to the h&r and irs. I would never use them as a CPNA
I’ve been very satisfied with the job my team at Ketel Thorstenson has done for me over many years.
