Story

Killeen–Fort Hood Regional Airport is a small military/commercial joint-use airport that operates alongside Robert Gray Army Airfield. The airport is based inside the south end of the Fort Hood Military Reservation (known as West Fort Hood), six nautical miles (7 mi, 11 km) southwest of the central business district of Killeen, Texas. The Killeen–Fort Hood Regional Airport replaced the old Killeen Municipal Airport (now Skylark Field).

Very clean and well-staffed. There’s a small eating area with fast food, a coffee shop, and a gift shop. The plane to Dallas is small, so bear that in mind if you’re not as fond of flying as I am. However, it’s only about a half-hour flight so it’s over quickly.

I used to love the airport. Unfortunately, me and my family will never fly out of it again because of what happened on 1/1/18 and 1/2/18. My brother flying out of GRK at 5:20am was dragged on and on for over 7 hours because the "de-icing machine" was getting fixed. The day after, my parents were flying out of GRK and the deicing machine still wasn't fixed, all flights out of GRK were cancelled again. They all were between 24 and 32hr late at their destination because of missed connections... They all were redirected to Austin reluctantly by the airport staff who cramped passengers into Taxis... What a shame. They were not even able to deal with 28 degree weather while airports in the north are operating normally in -10 degree weather. Fly Austin instead: Cheaper and they have equipment that works!

Nice quaint airport. The terminals are so small that TSA security is actually very nice. There is even a TV playing kids movies in the back corner of the terminal. 1.5 months later, there is no longer any food service or restaurant available in the airport.

Worst flight experience I’ve ever had. Our flight was canceled 5 minutes before boarding (5:20am and I had to drive an hour to be here), delayed for 3 hours, then delayed for another 3 hours. With my brother who has special needs and flying is already hard. They have no attendent or worker to even talk to. No food options other than vending. I’m not even mad, but it’s the concept of it all.

The facility is always clean, very easy to move about inside and out. Sometimes I feel the crew is a little under strength . There are no restaurant in the airport, only vending machines.
