We were driving through NC and I wanted something that wasn't a truck stop, a chain, or a buffet. So this looked like a decent place. We sat down and we were helped by the sweetest grand-motherly type waitress. We ordered the fried chicken and pulled BBQ pork along with sides. She warned us the fried chicken would take a half hour, because it wasn't a special today (I think that's what she said, I'm not good with accents). While we waited, she brought or beverages and hush puppies. I thought the hush puppies were wonderful, not like what they try to pass as hush puppies up in the northeast. The fried chicken was worth the wait. It was so crispy and moist, I didn't even need a napkin because there wasn't a drop of grease on my fingers or on the chicken itself. Its like magic, I didn't even know that was possible. My BBQ pulled pork was surprisingly dry, I'm used to it drowning in some kind sauce. It was moist and had plenty of flavour, not in your face sickly sweet BBQ sauce flavour, but a balanced smokey, seasoned vinegary flavour that didn't overpower the meat. As a bonus, our platters came with little dishes, so we could help ourselves to the soft serve ice cream machine. But we were too full to indulge in dessert. I definitely would stop by again if we happen to drive through NC!

I've been eating there for a long time and have never been disappointed. Service and food have always been excellent. Now my wife and I have a date night most every Thursday night and we look forward in going to Kim's.

Best hamburger steak with gravy and onions, mashed potatoes and fried okra I have ever had. Super good service and friendly customers.
