Kings Highway Animal Clinic is a full-service veterinary medical facility located in San Marcos, TX. The professional and courteous staff at Kings Highway Animal Clinic seeks to provide the best possible medical, surgical, and dental care for their highly valued patients.

We are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership, preventative health care, and health-related educational opportunities for our clients. Kings Highway Animal Clinic strives to offer excellence in veterinary care to San Marcos, TX, and surrounding areas.

Dr. Glenn Pape, clinic owner and founder, grew up in San Marcos. He attended Texas State University (formerly Southwest Texas State University) and graduated from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary medicine in 1978. He has practiced in San Marcos and the surrounding area since his graduation from veterinary school. He opened the practice in 1980 and it moved to its' current location in 1997. Dr. Pape, his wife Barbara, and son Rex are active members of Friedens Church in Geronimo, TX.


Meredith Mulvey Gowens, DVM - Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Meredith Gowens has been with Kings Highway Animal Clinic since her graduation from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2007. Dr. Gowens, her husband Geoff, and their son Aidan live in nearby New Braunfels. Geoff, also an Aggie, works as an athletic trainer in San Antonio.

Dr. Gowens veterinary interests include small animal internal medicine and dermatology. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Comal County Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Gowens has 2 dogs, George and Gus, and 2 cats, Sealy and Juniper. Dr. Gowens and her husband enjoy spending time with their family, friends, and pets and feel lucky to live and work in such a beautiful part of Texas.


Steven Guzman, DVM - Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Steven Guzman joined Kings Highway Animal Clinic in May 2013 after his graduation from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Guzman hails from Manor, Texas, where he grew up with a variety of animals including cats, dogs and family dairy cows.

Dr. Guzman is a true mixed animal practitioner and enjoys practicing on both large and small animals. His interests include bovine and equine medicine, as well as small animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Guzman is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Comal County Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Guzman, his wife Kassi, and their son Jacob are active members of the Grace Bible Church in San Marcos. In his free time, Dr. Guzman enjoys working on projects around the house and spending time with his family.


Janna Legg, DVM - Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Janna Legg joined Kings Highway Animal Clinic in July 2016 after her graduation from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Legg is originally from Palm City, Florida and also attended the University of Florida for her bachelor's degree.

Although this is her first time in Texas, Dr. Legg is very excited for her career as a mixed-animal practitioner and to discover what the great state has to offer. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and involved with Christian Veterinary Mission.

Dr. Legg shares her home with one rescue dog, Brooks, a darling Black Labrador. Dr. Legg is an avid Florida Gator sports fan, especially in the fall and enjoys major-league baseball as well. Besides sports, Dr. Legg enjoys reading, foodie adventures, working out and being involved with her church. Go Gators!
