Letter from the Chief
The Kingsville Police Department is comprised of 50 sworn peace officers performing varied and multiple tasks, serving a population of 25,525. We are located on US Highway 77 (soon to be Interstate 69).

The Criminal Investigations Bureau is comprised of a Sergeant, Corporal, four detectives, an accident investigator, crime scene technician and a secretary. They are responsible for investigations, crime scenes, accident follow up as well as coordination of the Crime Stoppers Program.

The second component of CIB is the Street Level Operations Team (S.L.O.T.) consisting of a Corporal and two criminal interdiction officers, their function is to provide criminal interdiction on the streets of Kingsville. They are also used as a proactive directed patrol unit in any capacity for which a need has been identified.

The Administration Division rounds out the department. This division is comprised of the Office of the Chief of Police, the Special Investigations Officer and Administrative Secretary.

As with many departments we also have specialized units. We currently have many officers who in addition to their regular assignments also have been assigned to specialized units.

Our oldest unit is our bike patrol unit and consists of officers from every division in the department. As listed above they supplement our patrol function and are utilized during specialized functions such as parades and other special events.

Next is our SWAT Unit which is comprised of a SWAT Commander, 2 team leaders, 8 operators, 2 sniper/spotters and in conjunction with the Kingsville Fire Department 4 tactical medics. Our SWAT unit trains weekly for four hours as required by National Tactical Officers Association. This unit is available for all tactical operations under the direction of the Chief of Police or his designee.

Our gang unit uses the acronym G.R.I.T. or the Gang Recognition and Identification Team. This unit is currently comprised of a Corporal, three patrol officers and a senior detective. This unit is responsible for the identification and tracking of citizens who have chosen to follow the gang lifestyle.

In closing I want to assure the citizens of our community that we have professional, dedicated men and women at our department who are dedicated to provide an improved quality of life and a safe environment for them and their children.

The agency is very involved with the community. Attend local schools and give presentations to the children. The chief has even taken time to attend an afterschool event at my son school to speak to parents. The officers have been professional during my encounters with them (one for traffic violation and others just conversing with officers around town) and do their best to keep the city safe.

They legit just give you a ticket for anything. I had to pay 200 dollars for not making a complete stop. Little respect for that town and the officials.

Always friendly with the community and very involved with the city of Kingsville for many non-profits such as the Boys and Girls club, National Night Out, Toys for Tots, Shop with a Cop program and helping families in need during the Holiday Season. Great job KPD!

They will do anything to ticket/throw the book at you. Would give zero stars if possible. Only a handful of people here that I respect. If you are a college student please choose another school.
