Went here for brunch on a Saturday morning and was seated outside. We had a reservation but had to wait a little for the host. I got the morning tacos and shared the millionaire’s bacons with my friends. The morning tacos were a bit bland and hard to eat cause the eggs were overflowing but the crispy Yukon was delicious! My friend got the Korean FC & waffles and had to ask for a sauce on the side since they only serve it with maple syrup and the fried chicken was a bit bland. The cocktails were tasty though!
Their potato wedges are heaven on earth. I whipped out my camera to take a photo but everyone ate them all already . Finally a place that does Asian fusion well. They have booze and speciality drinks , and it’s ok to drink early morning in the name of brunch . It’s a small family owned joint with lots of personality . The food was fresh and hot !
The tornado omurice was decent, but way too overpriced. After reading the response from the owner, I gave the restaurant another go and ordered their popcorn chicken waffle. It was truly awful and made me realize I should’ve rated lower. Chicken and agave syrup do not mix well together. And popcorn chicken with literal popcorn… that is not it. Your food is definitely overpriced. If this is supposed to reflect high quality skill, you are just scamming people.
Filling Korean fusion meals Enjoyed our brunch here. I got the bibimbapand it was feeling fresh to eat.Food: 5/5
The food I ordered was so good. I got the Korean fried chicken sandwich. It was crispy and seasoned well. Bun was nice and soft. Seasoned fries were good. My friend had breakfast which she loves so much. Service was efficient. Although the place was busy, seating didn’t take too long. I will say that our server wasn’t very aware of how anything tasted. He ate no dairy, no meat and only Asian proper food so he expressed. I get that certain cuisines might not fit your palate, but as a food server you should be knowledgeable enough to explain how the food tastes in a place where you choose to work. I had a few questions about the menu as so many options looked great, but he couldn’t tell me anything because he’d never had any of the food there. And sort of laughed after every time he made a statement. I didn’t hear anything comical.
We were a party of four. We only waited 10 minutes to be seated. Everyone ordered something different and everything looked really good. No one had any complaints about the food or service. If I am in the area again I would like to come back here. I do wish they hadn't run out of crab meat, I would have liked to try the crab benedict.
The food was delicious! The Jjpaguri was my favorite and the bacon is a must try. The pricing is reasonable and the size is adequate for sharing. The surrounding and seating is great. We ate outdoors and there was a shaded space on a sunny day. There are also flavorful drinks and cocktails. I tried a lychee drink that was sweet, but complimentary to the dishes we ordered. The bathroom was clean. This restaurant can get busy so I recommend a reservation. Parking on a Sunday was not terrible. We were able to find street parking a block away. Overall definitely a great place to try.
Amazing food and drinks. Very festive vibes. Tried the sprout bibimbap and Ube latte. Delicious!Food: 5/5
The Oakland branch of Kitchen Story opened in early 2020, and I am delighted it survived our lockdown years so that I could finally visit it last weekend! It’s just as good as the San Francisco locale but in a charming, colorfully decorated two-story building. The patio and first floor have a typical boisterous brunch vibe, but the upper floor was much more relaxed on our visit and boasts a beautiful bar. The Marmalade Morning Sour made for a bright, tangy, yet smooth start with whiskey, marmalade, and sweet and sour mix. Though I am so over dried citrus garnishes, the burst of marmalade orange rinds on the cocktail’s surface delighted me. I opted for the Blackstone Benedict, which comes with one strip of Kitchen Story’s famous thick, sweet & spicy Millionaire’s bacon and asparagus, tomato, and poached eggs over ciabatta, topped with hollandaise sauce. While I wish mine were more topped – the hollandaise was sparse – I thought using ciabatta instead of an English muffin was a great choice for texture. My husband enjoyed the Sprout Bibimbap with galbi beef shortrib and was impressed by how many veggies were included in that bowl. It comes with a side of rice to add to the dish. My friend opted for the Marnier French toast, a tower held in place by Kitchen Story’s signature dried pasta noodle stakes. She upgraded to the complete meal with an add-on of nicely fried eggs and Millionaire’s bacon. Now for an excuse to return and try their omurice...
Good breakfast but overhyped with exorbitant pricing. The Millionaire's Bacon lacks the crispness, bite and candied quality of other US restaurants presenting a similar product.Food: 3/5
