Our History...
The tradition began in 1955 when Bob and Virginia Knilans converted a charming old farmhouse on Davenport's Brady Street into a furniture showroom. They were committed to selling their clients only solid wood furniture backed by personal service. About a dozen years later, Pete Schlicksup, then a student at St. Ambrose College, answered an ad for a part-time job at the store. In 1974, Pete and his wife Judy continued the tradition of family-owned excellence when they pruchased the store and began a series of five expansions to create a quaint shopping environment. Pete and Judy's son, Tim, joined the business in 2004, brininging his passion for quality home furnishings into the leadership of Knilans' Furniture to carry it into the future.
