Southern Tradition Meets Modern Aesthetics

Story

The newest addition to the growing Knoxville downtown restaurant landscape, Knox Mason marries elements of traditional Southern cuisine with a vibrant, contemporary aesthetic. Chef/Owner and Knoxville native Matt Gallaher's seasonal menus draw from his 15 years of cooking experiences as Sous Chef at Blackberry Farm, cooking for rock stars around the Globe and, most recently as Tennessee's Executive Chef for Governor Haslam in Nashville.

Working closely with Southern farms and artisans, familiar dishes are recast to reflect the 21st century. And the full-service bar includes the best domestic, craft and micro-brews, wines from Tennessee and around the world alongside seasonal cocktails.

We offer dinner service Tuesday through Saturday. A late night menu Friday and Saturday, and Brunch on Saturday and Sunday.

We invite you to stop by and try our original cuisine inspired by the South we love.

Restaurant acoustics were really terrible. Couldn't hear our waitress tell our friends the specials. Steak had lots of fat on it.. Way overpriced for what you received. The menus were very small, the print was hardly readable and the low lighting made it even more difficult to read. I won't be returning to this restaurant !!! 😠

One of the best farm to table experience in Knoxville. Intimate setting with service that is personalized and professional. Ben was our server, I'd recommend him to anyone

This place is incredibly good. Had brunch here with a fried chicken dish which was one of the best I've ever had. Also tried their homemade pork rinds and they slayed. Check it.

WOW sums it all up in one word. Everything seems to be made in house and of high quality ingredients. Staff are superb and very knowledgeable about what it is in each menu item. We had two appetizers: the Sweetwater Pimento Cheese, with Fanatic Brewery Beer Bread, Housemade 'Wicked Pickles' and the Homemade White Sweet Potato Chips with Herb Salt and Romesco Sauce. The romesco sauce was INCREDIBLE! The second appetizer we shared was the Creamy Shelton Farm Grits with Housemade Tasso Ham Gravy. I am salivating right now just thinking about these two items! My entree was the Panzanella of House Made Bread, Local Tomatoes, White Bean Hummus, Summer Squashes, Basil Vinaigrette and Noble Springs Feta Cheese. They have several craft beers, a nice wine selection and even some interesting mixed drinks. I heard someone mention a raspberry Moscow Mule which sounded really intriguing. They have a couple of specials that aren't on the online menu. One of my cohorts had the meatloaf special which was made of a mixture of beef and pork with a smokey bbq sauce on it. It included homemade biscuits with a special butter - but be warned, the butter is an extra cost - we didn't know about it ahead of time. Bottom line, this is one of those places you "want to go to there!"
