Food- 4/5 Service- 5/5 Ambiance- 4/5 Drinks- 4/5 Value- 4/5 Went to Kooma last weekend for a “parents night out.” Everything was “good”. Nothing really stood out and blew you away, but everything was good. Food was good. Quality was good though, seemingly slightly overpriced. Service was good. Atmosphere was probably a little better than good. Ambiance was fun and lively. People were enjoying themselves. Started with the pan fried dumplings, shumai and edamame. The pan fried dumplings were cooked well with a perfect crisp on the bottom. The shumai and edamame were done well too. We got a variety of rolls that looked very artsy and tasted good too. I will say that my drinks were ok, but they did provide fantastic pours. And the others in my party really liked their cocktails. Definitely a plus in their favor. I would absolutely go back as it was a very fun night and the restaurant fit perfectly. Vegetarian options: There is a small section on the menu labeled vegetable rolls. Parking: We were lucky enough to find parking right out front in the street by the meter. But there weren’t many spots available close by.
Very attractive layout. The food is okay... I am sure they substituted something other than the Greygoose I requested in the mixed drinks, which yielded bad results. Parking: Metered street parking.
Everything was fine until... I didn't take a photo of the first roll because I couldn't see it in time. I lost my hunger when I saw the hair
Such a calm atmosphere, amazing server, beef skewers and miso salmon were FIVE STAR! Definitely coming back, highly recommend! Kid-friendliness: Kids meal
Kooma is my absolute favorite place to get sushi strictly bc they have good sushi. Their service is absolutely terrible. Their managers and some, not all of their staff is incredibly lazy. I ordered a pickup order on DoorDash and waiting about 10 minutes in my car for them to tell me my order was finished. I ended up walking inside and my order was finished sittin on the counter top just not packed or anything. The last time i ate at the bar in the restaurant I was held there for an extra 2.5 hours due to the fact the staff could not get our receipts to close. No manager came over to us, no one offered to comp our bill, nothing. The food is delicious but everyone I go to eat there I always have a bad experience
Overall, I really enjoyed this restaurant and the service. My sister and I are both vegan, which can make ordering difficult at times. Unfortunately there is quite a lot of fish sauce in many of the dishes, but our server Michael was incredibly helpful. He went above and beyond to make sure that all of our food was vegan and fish sauce free. We had to change up our order a bit, and it honestly turned out amazing! The spicy kooma dish was very tasty, as was the mushroom soup. Would recommend! :
This place is a pretty good location to have sushi in a nice crossover style. There is a big variety of roles in very different styles, with a nice local flavor of things. Definitely worth to try the roles covered in tempura, it’s something you don’t get everywhere. The service is friendly and takes good care. The offered soups are tasty, too. Price/value is in a good relationship here.
The food was good but not great. They served 5 of the people at our table, but my wife had to wait over 20 minutes for her food as they seemed to have forgotten it. They didn't make any amends for her having to wait for the food as it should have been taken off the order. My order was incorrect as I ordered a Pad Thai Combo with beef, shrimp, and tofu, but I got chicken instead of tofu. The noodles and sauce were good, but the chicken was dry. The sushi was very good.
Kooma, what happened to you? I've been to Kooma numerous times in the past and never had any major issues with it. Today was awful and I don't think I'll be returning. I'll start with positives, the babimbop was decent and they have a wide selection of food and drinks. The negatives are significant. The rest of our food was subpar, seafood was tough and rubbery, ceviche lacked flavor. Appetizers were brought out with the entrees. Service was abysmal. I had to get up numerous times to ask the waitress about something. After ordering, we sat for over 45 minutes before getting served any food. I can't tell if the waitress was new or lazy or what was going on, but she never checked up on the table unless I went to get her attention. The restaurant was also not looking well maintained, numerous light fixtures were missing bulbs and some tables had damages or holes on their surfaces. Given the price point at Kooma, you would think they would care about maintaining a respectable atmosphere with great service.
Anthony did a great job as our server, he knocked it out of the park as they say. The Bruce Lee and Hawaiian rolls were the prefect textures and taste as always. Tried the Tortilla appetizer and it was the best appetizer I've ever had in my 53 years. Highly recommendFood: 5/5
