Great store, great staff. Be warned: it's among the busiest grocery stores in the Kanawha Valley. It's easier to shop at this store either very early or very late. Would be nice if store and CLICK LIST hours were extended to foster time efficiency, improving customer satisfaction.

Sadly this is one of the worst Krogers in all of Charleston West Virginia. The day crew are wonderful, they are very helpful and go out of their way to make a good shopping experience. What makes this the worst Kroger's in all of Charleston is the night crew. It seems as if they make up their own rules and hours. They have on their website that they close at 2 AM every day and when you call the automated system it will also tell you they close at 2 AM every day. However if you go there after midnight you won't be able to get into the store 9 times out of 10, not because the doors are locked but because usually they are 3 to 4 employees sitting outside smoking and using their cell phone's. They seem to get upset when they have to quit smoking their cigarette or texting/talking on their phone to tell you the store is closed. They are sitting right beside the doors smoking, which there is a law in all of Charleston that you have to be so many feet away from the public entrance to smoke and clearly the employees do not adhere to these rules, as they are setting right beside the main doors. So I don't know if they just let certain people in or if they just sit outside and eat the clock till 2 o'clock so that they get paid for smoking and talking on their cell phone's, but they are the rudest night shift crew of all of the Kroger's. I know that they do stocking at night time after the store closes even though it used to be a 24 hour store until after the remodel, but when you always see employee sitting outside smoking especially during times when the store should be open you just wonder what's really going on. Either way I wouldn't want to be paying my employees to smoke and upset potential customers. So my suggestion is that unless you plan on shopping here before 9 o'clock in the evening I would advise not to waste your time. You won't get help from the managers, if you can even get a manager at that time, nor will you get any help from the employees. If something rings up wrong they'll tell you they can't fix it and they won't even go look at prices to check them. Not to mention most of the time the employees, especially the ones running the self checkout lines, are too busy using their cell phones to pay any attention to the customers. I have watched other people steal stuff from that store and not one employee seems to pay a bit of attention. I said something one time to one of the employees about I thought someone had just stole something and they just shrugged it off at me. I have been disappointed in this Kroger's numerous times. I lived in Charleston for over 16 years, and this Kroger's is the closest to me however I will drive all the way to Saint Albans just for a better shopping experience. I really hate to give stores negative reviews but when they deserve it they should get one. I will never shop here again after 5 PM. Again though I would like to give kudos to the morning shift because they actually do do their job. So none of this is directed to the morning crew or the deli, they actually do have one of the best delis around in Kanawha city.

Some of the Kroger staff working in the self checkout area are extremely rude but most are helpful. It's a good grocery store, usually well stocked but they will sometimes stop carrying popular products without adequate explanations and they will no longer allow you to use your debit card as credit. I am cutting them down from five stars to two due to their rude employees.

My husband and I took my mother grocery shopping and while there we were treated very poorly. I was never so embarrassed before. My husband and I were both helping morher gather what was on her list and I guess he was singing. The manager instead of approaching us and seeing if there was a problem called the police and had my husband escorted out. Needless to say we left her groceries and ours set. If he is not welcome then neither are we. The manager did tell me that 2 customers reported that there was a guy in a black hat threatening to shoot people. My husbands hat was not black it was gray. So thank you Kroger for a wonderful shopping experience.
