What a gem. Sushi was excellent. Quailty could not be debated. Superb fish and artistry all wrapped in amazing rolls. Staff is very friendly, and restaurant had a great vibe with nice music. It was my daughter's birthday and they came out with a free dessert that had a wonderful presentation and great taste to boot. We will be back.
Very good sushi restaurant. They have first-class ingredients. Everything is fresh and of high quality. The service was first-rate as well. Everyone was polite and smiling. We received our order quickly. The waiting time was very pleasant for us thanks to the atmosphere in this place.
Takoyaki, ramen and the up in smoke roll were all delicious. I'm a big fan of yellowtail and this place offers a couple of options. Menu's got some creative rolls and cocktails on there as well. Prices are reasonable and our service was great despite the restaurant being fairly full.
What an amazing find ! Truly this is the best sushi and ramen restaurant around. The fish is so fresh and the ramen is a homemade recipe which is incredible ! We have already come here a few times within the last week. The Chef and staff are so friendly, atmosphere is cozy. The Chef takes great pride in all of the food ensuring it’s freshness and high quality. I can’t say enough about the food and experience.
The chef personally came to the table when I ordered chef's choice and asked me preferences because I had mentioned I didn't want unagi. I was worried the chef would be offended for asking since it is a chef's choice sashimi plate. It was a delightful experience and delicious. The "sauces" he created for me added an amazing flavor profile on fish I would not normally eat, like mackerel. The only thing is I wish the pieces of fish were a little bigger. I look forward to visiting again next time I'm in Elgin.

If you like a small and quiet place where you can hear yourself speak, a great atmosphere, enjoy good Japanese food this is the place for you. The food is fresh and prompt and the service is inviting and friendly. If you decide to try it out please make a reservation. Definitely try the bento box or the ramen noodles. If you try the maaki rolls try the Kaiju or the Godzilla.
Had Kubo on my radar after reading and hearing good things about them. They did not disappoint! Highly recommend. Enjoyed delicious Saki good choices, and Maki Rolls. The quality of ingredients is exceptional. Also exceptional is their Sushi Chef who obviously has a talent for not only perfect flavor combinations but delightfully satisfying textures which made the experience authentic, and memorable. Could not have been more impressed. If you enjoy Japanese food in general, this your place as they have other offerings on their menu as well. And to top off this review - the service was very good too!
The food was delicious and the service was great. There were a lot of different options to choose from, so whether you enjoy sushi or you're feeling something different, I'm sure you'll be able to find something you enjoy. I went here for lunch during a work training class. I’m not from the area but the place had great reviews so I gave it a try. They did mot disappoint. The sushi was incredibly fresh and the staff was very attentive and knowledgeable upon asking for suggestions. I ordered the aloha and spicy tuna rolls. I was recommend both, especially the aloha! The products were so fresh and the sushi was very high quality! Would def recommend this place and will go again if I’m ever in the area. Parking: I went during the day, so parking in the downtown area was available. Wheelchair accessibility: No steps to get it or to maneuver through the restaurant.
