We stayed at 4 different state parks on our week long trip...this one tied Harris beach for best. rent cabin 11 for the best views. the volunteers/rangers were extremely nice and fun to talk to. the restroom and showers were easy(20ft away)to get to with hot water and dual shower heads. parking is included for 1 car and the reservation system was a snap. more than worth 50 per night.bring your bedding and enjoy the stay.(it has a heater,is very clean, never saw a bug or rodent.)

Loved this park! Mountain biking, road cycling, babies in strollers, oh my! There is a little something for everyone and it's just beautiful. The campgrounds looked really clean and the facilities were nice. They even have little carts to transport your stuff from car to camping. For cyclists, they had stations with air and tools to handle any tire issues- don't think I've ever seen anything like that in a park like this. It was next level- loved it!

This review is based off my experience during the 2017 eclipse. There was a decent gathering on top of a hill with some rangers there for support. They even prepared a telescope and eclipse glasses. The view from the hill was nice but the park itself isn't as interesting as others in Oregon.

Tent camping, RV camping, mountain biking, disc gold and trails. Great place to visit. Been there several times and I keep finding more and more. Seems like a great place to get some true mountain biking in and very pretty for my trail runs.

Biking, hiking, horses, Oh my! This place is a great get away from Portland. Just out of town enough that you feel like you're away but close enough for a two night stay. The campsite are HUGE and have plenty of space to enjoy friends and family. The hosts were great and laid back and the park was well maintained. The East loop has a bit larger sites but is mostly open young growth trees providing little privacy, the West loop is old growth large trees providing better seclusion but both areas are amazing. If you're into biking and hiking, the trails here go on for days, and the views are amazing. The Banks Vernonia paved 21 mile trail is easily accessed although there are a number of other more rustic trail heads off of it too.
