The turn around in this school has been very disappointing academically.  My son attending this school because we thought everything academically was going to be ok and unless you are in honor or AP class I would not send your kids here.  Us coming from another public system that standard are held very high and opportunities for the kids to really try to get into division 1 or 2 schools.  I hold my kids accountable for their class but when there are problems and communication between teachers and parents and even student is horrible.  Even communication with the counselors you can see they do not care.  I got an answer from my son counselor that she is not familiar with the 16 core courses that are required to wanting to get into a division 1 school and that La Mirada just wants to make sure kids graduate and since my son wants to go to a division 1 school he should speak to athletic director.  Also had to have communication up the chain to set up meeting with the principal and that we impossible and not good came of sending my son to this school.  The teachers there are always behind in grading the papers. Even to the point that my son collected papers from other students to show me that he was doing the work correct but these teachers and I say teacherS because many grade papers and fail kids when pass others when the work is done  exactly the same. There is so much more I can keep on writing and should post all the email sent and responses that were given to me but now it too late and unfortunately my kid has to repeat some classes in summer.  So from an "A" student to be getting D is it now acceptable in my book and I seven email the district with the concern and no correspondence back.  So think twice about sending your kids to this school specially for the academics.

You get a feeling that you don't matter to the teachers and you're just there so they can get paid.  Security at the school constantly wander around bugging just to give themselves something to do.  Students will bully the special needs kids when the have the same classes and the adult supervisors in charge of them don't care for what they are up to or what's happening.  This school is nothing special other then they have a good reputation in sports but besides that the education quality is the same as any other school and very outdated.  FACTS!

Martha from the registration office is extremely unreliable and negligent. I had such a hard time trying to obtain my transcripts from her. The first time I called, I asked her if she could mail me my transcripts at my address because I, working a full-time 9-5 job, live over 40 miles away, and it’s not practical for me to take a day off and drive all those miles just to pick up a transcript. A month passed, and I didn’t receive my transcript. Then I took a day off to drive over 40 miles to pick up my transcript. Upon seeing her, she asked me to wait at the waiting room. I waited for 30 minutes because she forgot about me. Today, I called her and asked if she could email me my transcript. She said she’d do it within the hour. Three hours passed, and I haven’t received her email. I called her again, and told her all the times she’s failed to give me my transcript, and all she said was “I don’t recall.” I asked her to send the email again, and she said she’d do it within the hour. I just don’t understand how hard it was for her to send me a transcript, a task that takes two minutes. I was working on a tight deadline because I needed those documents to send as evidence to USCIS, and not meeting those deadlines could mean my citizenship would either be delayed again for a few months or rejected. Working with her was so frustrating. With all the schools I’ve worked with to get this done, she has been the most difficult.

Not the best school! I got bullied. The only reason I'm here is because of my friends. For my friends a 2/5 even though I personally give it a 1.

It's a pretty sick school, 4/5 needs better food.
