Old school style and welcoming service, Not fancy but wonderful! Highly recommend the steak fajitas, comes with rice, beans, pico & tortillas. And the MASSIVE Cadillac margarita is delicious! All around a great experience. Highly recommended if you need some comforting Mexican food! Parking: Lots of free parking spaces available.
Prices look good, reviews look good, place is cool and service seemed it would be decent if you sat down. But man.. the food.. I did a take out order for their most popular burrito on Doordash, so I could get a good gauge on the restaurant for a hopeful future visit, and the pile of slop I received was truly inedible. It was like they got that canned chili and wrapped it up in a soggy tortilla with greasy ground beef and cheddar cheese. No “fresh lettuce”, sour cream or pico as advertised, didn’t even include my utensils.. I’ll finish it off by saying I worked all day and didn’t eat really once, so for me to not finish something I paid good money for, especially on a day like today, should be telling. Maybe their higher priced items are better but I’m not willing to risk it. There’s plenty of good Mexican food around albeit maybe not in Queen Anne, but Malenas is good! Pricier, but for a decent reason, so I advise you skip this one personally. P.S. - This photo was taken after 2 sad bites. No funny business, this is how it came.
The food is so-so a little heavy and lacking in spice but the service is always fantastic. With the short wait from the kitchen for our food, we were checked on 3 or 4 times to make sure everything was to our liking and that we had a refill on everything we needed. The location was so neat too! I love the little upstairs area that overlooked 15th Ave NW. Parking: They have a small lot about 8-10 spots available on site Wheelchair accessibility: This is located in an older building with lots of stairs - even to get in through the main entrance. I do not believe there's a wheelchair accessible entrance
Best mexican food in Seattle!!! Hands down and they have an amazing michelada that you can't get anywhere else also my wife gets a strawberry and banana margarita that's best food in the area and the prices are great !!!!
There's a lot a Mexican food. But this is top notch. Great food, not too pricey, great service, and an unmatched environment. You've got to try it out.Food: 5/5
This little mom and pop Mexican restaurant is AMAZING! Staff is great, food is SO GOOD! Taquitos and chicken fajitas the chicken was JUICY and FLAVORFUL!!! The taquitos were SO FLAVORFUL! Plates are big size come with an empty stomach. Recommend 100%
I’m sharing my experience in order to help someone else in the future. My boyfriend and I have always liked La Palma because the foods alright and the service is always good. We decided to treat ourselves to some burritos today and instead of paying the outrageous fees involved with DoorDash and Uber eats I decided to walk there and pick it up myself to save some money. I ordered off the restaurants menu over the phone and asked for two different burritos one costing $15.50 and the other costing $21.50. When I get to the restaurant I’m expecting to see a bill around $38-$40 after taxes etc. Instead my bill is over $50 and I’m not shown an itemized receipt. I’m so shocked at the jump in price that I also instinctually added a $3 tip on top of that out of habit. I pointed at his ticket for my order and asked if I could have it. Instead he just printed me out a copy of my credit card transaction that didn’t have any summary of the items and handed it to me. I have severe confrontation anxiety so instead of asking questions I just left. Maybe taxes have gotten that out of hand, maybe they need to update their online menu to reflect recent increases, or maybe there’s something fishy going on but if the price seems a little too high definitely question it. It’s definitely a bummer that now we don’t feel comfortable going back there.
Large portions and overall delicious food. Great service and general ambience reminds me of family Mexican restaurants. Price to portion ratio is very good given that it's also in the city. Huevos rancheros was delicious but had a little too much cheese. Some yolks were runny and some weren't. Steak was huge but too chewy even though we ordered medium. Chicken fajitas served with sides and tortillas was the favourite for the night. I would rank chicken fajitas > huevos rancheros > steak.
Poor Quality Food, Poor Location, Prices way too high for what you get, and Unfriendly Service! Barely Vegetarian friendly and definitely Not Vegan friendly. Be prepared to climb a ton of steps outside to get in and inside to get to the dining areas and to the restrooms. A very old place with food that Chef Ramsay would have thrown out immediately. **I do NOT understand all the good reviews reason I thought I'd try it.** I'm going to guess most of the good reviews are based on strong drinks or they've never had good Mexican food. My food was definitely not fresh and tasted awful, but I doused it with the hot salsa and got it down because I was hungry and nowhere close by to eat, especially if you're walking. The server said he doesn't like Vegans and this is a Mexican restaurant, either order what they have or go somewhere else! Wow! I wasn't even trying to get a Vegan meal! After that comment, I ordered the 3 awful sides rather than pay the high prices for a meal that wouldn't be what I wanted. I definitely won't be back and will go somewhere else where they are happy to accommodate and charge less for much better food!
The place is great staff very friendly. Quality wise the food can be alot better my beans were really greasy, and the portions are abit small for the price. If they modify the recipe this restaurant can really make a huge impact on the seattle community.
