Inspired by a paper that one of my former classmates just sent to me, I'm going to write my own review of Lake Catholic. As a recent former student of Lake Catholic (class of 2014), I feel like any prospective students/parents should read this review before attending the school. I'll try to touch base on each subject as concisely as possible and not get too specific... although I probably will anyways. Socially, the school isn't that bad. The students for the most part are nice although like everywhere, you'll encounter some annoying d-bags (I'm looking at you, vape gods who hog the stalls). There are cliques and an "in" crowd, but bullying really isn't much of an issue and almost everyone can find a group that they feel like they belong. Teachers quality varies from young and engaging to old/lazy /angry powertripping teachers although I would label the majority of the teachers as lazy/angry powertrippers. While enforcing the rules is part of the teachers job, some are clearly being intentionally overly strict and you can tell that they get off on yelling at you to "tuck your shirt in" or "if I had you in class, that wouldn't happen". Again, I understand that it's part of teachers jobs to enforce the rules; however, it genuinely bothers me to see them get off on yelling at students for minor infractions. The quality of class varies; however, it's mostly just mindless repetition and memorizing facts rather than teachers understanding concepts. The school rewards you more for cheating and getting an A than getting wrong answers and learning from your mistakes. As far as money spent, I'm genuinely curious as to where it went because it is certainly not the classrooms. The school has a spruced up main hall atrium and science wing to look good for potential students and to show alumni so they can try and squeeze money out of their wallets. The school will guilt trip alumni into giving them every cent possible. I mean hey, I'm drowning in debt right now and my credit score is screwed, but I might as well take out a high interest loan so Lake Catholic can buy their football team new uniforms (because the money certainly isn't going to the classrooms!) Who cares about the fake walls that separate the classrooms, dated textbooks, and lack of money spent on any extracurricular activities other than football! Sidenote: I can't speak for the quality of the school's new chromebooks having never experienced them; however, from what I've heard, they are extremely low quality. Discipline... What's there to say? They have a middle aged man who is trying to relive his highschool football glory days as the Dean of Discipline & football coach. He likes to take his failures as a football coach out on regular students, but will always look the other way when it comes to football players! He's more concerned about students cell phones or untucked shirts than he is about the vaping in the bathrooms! One last thing. Lake Catholic maintains it's 100% graduation and 100% college rate by asking it's students who are struggling senior year to leave. And by asking I mean telling them to leave or have them face expulsion! Glad to see this Catholic school is more concerned about it's numbers than the actual students behind the numbers! It really feels like a family here!

THE SCHOOL SUCKS

We began using Lake Catholic in1991. By the time all 4 of the kids were through, it was 2005. We could not be more proud of our kids. Eldest, a medical biller-coder trained at Bryant & Stratton works for a large insurance provider in Virginia. Eldest son, an aerospace engineer self-taught in CAD. Middle son, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, employed at a large supplier of custom kitchen remodeling (counters, cabinetry), and the third son, with double BA in Accounting and Business Administration, an accountant for Progressive Insurance. What kind of preparation do you think they received at Lake Catholic? We also participated in Show Choir, Symphonic Choir, did all the stage shows (and not Just our girl) and were part of the wrestling team. I wrote and distributed travel directories for every school the team travelled to. (Go Cougars! But don't Get Lost!) We worked Bingo - year after year after year. How much did the 'complainers' put into working side-by-side with the School staff on their kid's behalf? You get out what you put in. Several years ago one of the boys was over for a visit and as he went out the door he pulled back in for a moment and said, "BTW Mom and Dad, thank you for the awesome education you gave us. I have met too many people who can't do simple math in their head, and can't read well enough to fill out job applications!" 'NUFF SAID !!' Mary K.

WORST SCHOOL EVER!!!!!!!!!! please do not even consider going here. they just want your money, and you PAY 8500 a year to get a crappier education than public school in cleveland!! not to mention they accept every single #$%* on this planet and the teachers barely do their job. everyone is mean and bullying here is worse than any school ive seen. i am considering online school instead of this.
