Lake Conestee Nature Park consists of over 400 acres of beautiful natural habitat on the Reedy River just 6 miles south of downtown Greenville, South Carolina. This wildlife sanctuary contains hardwood and mixed forests, extensive wetlands, 3 miles of the Reedy River, and a rich diversity of wildlife habitat. Deer, raccoon, beaver, fox, river otter, and various small mammals inhabit the park, along with numerous species of reptiles and amphibians. As of October 2017, 215 bird species have been reported by the Greenville County Bird Club. The park has over 12 miles of trails and boardwalks, over half of which are wheelchair friendly. LCNP offers nature education programs to schools and other organizations, as well as special Saturday nature programs. The park has been designated as an Important Bird Area of Global Significance by the National Audubon Society. Historic Lake Conestee and the Lake Conestee Dam are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, along with parts of Conestee Mill.
