Story

8 screens. Built 1987. Operated by Landmark since 2003. Located in the Midtown Promenade Center (at 8th & Monroe), the Midtown Art Cinema is the premier home for independent, foreign language and documentary films in the heart of intown Atlanta.

The renovated lobby is a sight to see! The concession stand boasts a fine selection to choose from including gourmet candies, baked goods and other unique treats. The art deco design is an inviting place for guests to meet and visit with friends before a film. It does not take more than a few steps outside of the theatre to enjoy international cuisine at not one, but two restaurants in the courtyard. Several other eateries are also located in the shopping center.

The Midtown Art Cinema offers craft beers, with a selection of wines and spirits at the concession stand.

The Midtown Art Cinema welcomes customers with special needs. All auditoriums are fully accessible as well as accommodations at our concession stand and restrooms. Closed captioning and hearing / visual impaired access is available for select films.

Very friendly staff and they had wine and spirits for sale. The theater itself could use an upgrade, but I guess it is part of a vintage theme? Seats were wobbly and when my row partners moved I could feel it. Overall the experience was OK. The matinee (11:30A) was 9 dollars so a bit pricey for the overall experience. The women's bathroom was clean. Would return for an indie film but definitely not one that I could see in a more updated theater.

This theater plays mostly independent films with a smattering of bigger (and more commercial) movies thrown in. Centrally-located, there is ample free parking available. Staff is friendly. The individual theaters are small and cozy but there is no stadium-seating - occasionally, there are whiffs of unknown odors in the theaters. The seats are small and absent cup-holders. Zero frills and zero fuss - no IMAX and no 3D. Just your barebones basic movie theater. Popcorn, anyone?

The website said you had a showing at 12:10 but the doors were locked when we arrived at noon and no one would answer the phone. The box office times said the showing was actually at 1:10 so we assumed the showtimes online were wrong waited an hour. At 1:00 we went to get tickets for the 1:10 and the salesperson said that the showing wasn't until 2 and then informed us that there was a showing at 12:10 but they locked the doors because they couldn't find a manager. We watched so many confused people come up to the doors and have to leave because of this and it broke our hearts to have to miss what has become a much loved birthday tradition because of this disorganization.

I forgot to take a pic at the theater so here is my dog sophie from earlier. It snowed today so i thought that landmark would be closed but they weren’t! 5 stars! Been coming here for years. And many more to come I hope.

Cozy, quaint, and intimate Little Theater. The manager was very nice and helpful. I was trying to decide what movie to watch and he was very knowledgeable and actually was able to give me detailed information about the movie I I was debating on watching. Excellent customer service!
