Growers of Georgia's Sweetest Peaches and Best Tasting Pecans

Story

Lane Southern Orchards is dedicated to planting, growing and harvesting the best-tasting peaches and pecans in Georgia. Around here, that's something to be proud of.

To keep things friendly, we give each crop the same amount of special attention. The farm has grown over the years to include 2,500 acres of peaches, 2,700 acres of pecans, 5 acres of strawberries, and a special patch of muscadines, scuppernongs and kiwi.

Just don't get us started. There has been more than one heated discussion about which tastes better...our home-made pecan pie or peach cobbler. It can lasts for hours but it always ends up the same way...with a big slice of pie, a warm bowl of cobbler and several spoons. Just cross your fingers and hope no one mentions our peach ice cream!

If you are anywhere in the Middle Georgia area, it's worth a trip to visit our Roadside Market, Gift Shop and Peachtree Cafe. We are located just off of I-75 at Exit 142, five miles West in Fort Valley. You can even take a farm tour during June & July. But, all year long, you can sample some of our home-made favorites and grab a rocking chair on the front porch and relax. Everything will be just Peachy.

My cousin lives in the area, and took my siblings and I here to pick strawberries and eat lunch. Now, anytime I'm the Atlanta area, I make sure to stop by on the way back home to get some cobbler to go and to stock up on jams, salsa, bread, and wine. The cafeteria uses the orchards' own crops and harvests in their food. Their ice cream is so delicious. And that cobbler... it makes me drool just thinking about it. During the spring, you can pick strawberries just to pick strawberries, or pick them to take home. My siblings and I love coming home with fresh fruit.

So many options! Fresh peaches, apples, melons, nuts and more. Yummy preserves, jams, ICE CREAM! Of course tourist items too, but what a refreshing place to stop just a few short miles off the highway, but worth it. Sit on the porch in a rocking chair with a peach ice cream cone while gazing through the orchards. I can still smell the fresh rain.

Drove out for lunch it was really good and priced well. The store seemed kind of expensive. I wish i could have tried some of the ciders before purchasing. Due to the price it was a bit risky just to pirchase. I asked the gal at the lunch area if i could buy some thinking you might offer it with meals... No luck. We just ate. I had the meatloaf and it was good.

Love Lanes. We live in West AL and travel here to visit our son and family several times a year. Always buy jars of spiced and pickled peaches. We eat them with cottage cheese....delicious. Love their fried peach pies and fritters.

After seeing many signs about hours and hot food, I stopped and went in morning of October 9. No wonderful aromas greeted me at 9 am. Very few things that looked fresh in cafe. No sign of coffee. I purchased a loaf of "peach" bread that might have one peach in it. It is awful. Also puchased a loaf of cinnamon pecan bread, also pretty bad. Very disappointing. Staff was unfriendly at best.
