Last Stop Saloon
"Completely gone is the notorious downtown bar, The Vault, and in its place is a midscale family-friendly restaurant and bar with soaring ceilings and original historic brickwork. The original Bank Building from the Late 1800's is a labor of love with historic wooden windows and French doors for plenty of light, a back yard patio overlooking the river, and several upgrades happening soon. This 120 plus seat restaurant features Burgers, Steaks, fresh pastas and seafood, as well as other favorites. The Last Stop draws it's name from The Dalles area being the Last Stop of the original Oregon Trail, and secondly from the bars that stood here before and were the Last Stop of folks who got hauled off to the local jail. Check us out!"

Honest Review: The Last Stop Saloon is a great spot to have a meal. I would say it is a bit overpriced for the food, that being said. It was a great experience overall. I had the frenchie. The bread roll was so soft & tender, crispy on the inside just how I enjoy it. The beef was crispy & juicy, the cheese was melted to perfection. The au jus may be the best I have ever had. My husband ordered the Ruben. He loved every bite. He didn’t love that there was a lot of extra garnish on the top of the potato salad. It may have been better if it was served on the plate as opposed to in a bowl. My son ordered the saloon burger. He was thrilled with it, being on the autism spectrum, he didn’t touch his burger he will eat it later. He filled up on onion rings. Which he enjoyed immensely, except the outside he said was “a little too crispy for me”, however, my husband and I loved them. So that was just a matter of preference. My brother asked for a Guinness when we first walked in. They were out of Guinness, so he ordered a corona instead. He also ordered the chicken fettuccine. He did complain of it being a bit bland. When I tasted it, I thought it tasted great. Possibly just needed a bit more salt. It had a nice flavor of rosemary & garlic. I suggested he add some salt, which he did & was happy with it. The toast that came on the side was perfectly crispy, which he loved. There were no paper towels in the women’s restroom. But, it did appear as though there was only one server working the whole restaurant. She can’t be faulted, for that being the case, she did an excellent job! Overall, the experience was lovely. The server did great. Waters, food, etc. she was working hard to keep up & she ensured we had great service. Payment at the end was a bit slow. But she was getting busy. I would definitely come here again. Kid-friendliness: Despite being a saloon, they are kid friendly as well as extremely accommodating to my son.
Ordered delivery. We shared a chef salad and chicken wings and all was fantastic. The wings were extra big meaty pieces. Thanks for feeding us weary travelers!Food: 5/5
Alright food, odd portion sizes. Expected access to more fresh seafood. Tianna was an excellent server with food knowledge and friendly attitude.Food: 3/5
I didn't realize how big it was when I walked in the doors, it's roomy. They do need more poker machines, they only have three. This seems to be a sports bar, cuz they have lots of TVs. Food is good. People friendly.
Service was sub par. No enthusiasm or willingness to help. I felt she was there against her will. Most questions I had were answered with I don't know. We ordered wings because she said they were voted best in town. I don't know who voted, but I've had better wings at hooters. Service bad, food bad, and drinks were spendy. I'll never go back.
The food was great and the prices were acceptable. The atmosphere was that of a bar a couple of noisy, tipsy chicks behind us and a very noisy guitarist. All of that would have been fine if we had gone in to be in a bar to drink and prowl, but we were looking for a cozy dinner spot for good food and talk.Food: 5/5
Arrived in The Dalles late and food options were limited...at 9:00. Live music was not our jam but some seemed to enjoy it. The food was sub-par. The chicken tenders were the smallest I have ever seen and about the diameter of a pencil. The burgers were nothing special and mediocre at best the cook on the burgers was acceptable, the quality of the ingredients was poor. Fries were pretty good though.
I hate how inconsistent food at the last stop can be. Today’s experience was bad. The chicken strips I ordered for takeout were pathetic. Three of the four strips were small, thin, and dry. In the restaurant a few months ago the chicken strips were excellent, hand breaded, and moist. You just never know what you are going to get here. I don’t think I’ll be going back.
This is by far the most greasy and disappointing fettuccine Alfredo with steak I’ve Ever had. This steak was no joke 5 oz and this just to be 30 dollars Straight Up Ridiculous! I asked for medium rare it’s came out darker than me with a tan. Sad first impression. Cheese on taco salad taste like cheese for sandwichesFood: 1/5
We’ve patronized the Last Stop often since they’ve opened. Tonight was by far the worst we’ve ever had. The steaks were burnt, tasted overwhelmingly charred. And dry. My son’s grilled cheese was -black- and when we requested the extra toppings for the potato we ordered and didn’t receive, we could hear the cook in back swearing about us and it. If I’m going to drop $120 for my family, I expect better. The only salvation was our waitress.
