The park rangers are so nice and know so much about this National Monument.
It has a great Trail to walk around and not disturb any of the lava flows. Sometimes you can drive to the top but in the summer you have to take a shuttle.

I can't believe that some people believe in evolution. That this was all a lucky chance happening. I'm so blessed to finally see this. I've been by it 50 times in a semi, now I can stop and look

Fun spot to spend  a few hours.  The butte has an amazing view.  The visitor center is OK; just kind of small but has some nice displays.  There's a lava cave you can go into but make sure to bring good shoes and a flashlight (headlamp preferred).  You can rent big flashlights there.  It'll take about 45-60 minutes to get to the end but you get the same experience if you just go in about 15 minutes as you would to the end.  The footing is really difficult for some.
BE AWARE:  If you've gone in a cave in the last 5 years, they won't let you in if you're wearing the same clothing/shoes due to a disease/mold affecting bats.
