I am an experienced matrimonial lawyer and family law attorney that has also trained in mediation and collaborative law. My goal is to help couples "get to yes" and resolve their marital and family law issues amicably. Some couples, however, are not good candidates for mediation or collaborative law. I am here to help as an experienced divorce and family law litigator. I handle negotiated settlements and litigation in family and supreme court. Not having a personal recommendation for a family matters attorney in my area, I know how valuable these reviews can be to someone in my position.  I found the Law Office of Darren Shapiro via Google and couldn't be happier with my experience there.  Darren and his entire office were very professional and helpful in every way in dealing with my case.  He was patient and explained everything I could expect from the process up front with no surprises, answering all my questions and setting me at ease.  The judge initially declined to sign off on my case, but Darren went out of his way to draft a professional letter to the judge asking him to re-consider my case and situation.  Thanks to Darren's persistence and personal attention to my case, the judge re-considered and approved my case.  If not for Darren's aggressive actions, my case processing time would have been greatly extended.  I highly recommend the Law and Mediation Office of Darren Shapiro. I contacted Darren Shapiro for information regarding the direct adoption process of my son. He explained the process to me in a clear manner and was patient with me as I asked questions. Throughout the process, he explained what may happen and how we will approach each step. He also offered me ways to cut costs and was understanding when I needed a payment schedule. From start to finish, he was professional, kind and encouraging during a stressful time. I was able to get the adoption finalized before my son's first birthday! I thank God for leading me to Darren Shapiro!

I hired Darren to handle my divorce. My case was difficult and very emotional due to my ex wife and her lawyer. Darren handled the case like a seasoned professional and delivered a fair and reasonable settlement for me. He was extremely knowledgeable regarding NY State's family laws and statutes and he was also very understanding of the emotional toll these cases take on the parties involved.
