I have practiced law for over 15 years, but for the last five years I have concentrated my practice on family law.

Welcome to my law firm! My firm helps people who are contemplating going through a divorce, or who are dealing with child custody or support issues. I promise to give you honest and frank advice (even if it is not what you want to hear) without any fancy lawyer talk as I help you understand your rights and the best strategy for your case. I provide my services on an hourly or flat fee basis.

Mr. Rosenthal has reasonable fees. This is the only reason I am rating him 2 stars. He does not have the wherewithal to handle a difficult case despite being given the lengthy history of it prior to accepting. If you are seeking a family law attorney that can go the distance and stick with his client through all the matters of one's case he is not the best choice.

By way of background, I’m a legal secretary working mostly large firms for senior partners, so I’m picky about attorneys.  Matthew has been first-rate.  From my work experience I already knew the procedure and what would happen, and it’s been a pleasure to see a real professional at work on my behalf.   I also know from work experience that quality representation is often expensive.  Matthew’s practice is a breath of fresh air; his billings reflect efficiency and respect for his client’s resources.   Trust me, too many California attorneys know how to fluff billings, and Matthew stands apart from that.  In family law you’ll also work with paralegals, and Matthew’s paralegal Traci is excellent.  They both are good listeners, quickly “got it” about my details, and strategically have litigated my case appropriately and economically.  As I well know, that is about as good as it gets.
I have a lot at stake in my case, and knowing that my interests are so well protected is extremely important.  Also, Matthew’s practice stands out among the family law bar:  The client gets the benefit of efficient professional expertise.  In California, unfortunately, this is unusual.
I highly recommend Matthew.

I spoke with Matthew for about 30 minutes and right away I knew that he was someone that was looking to help me as best he can. If you want someone that makes you feel comfortable, has a lot of knowledge, and is willing to assist you the best they possibly can without giving you misleading information, I would definitely recommend Matthew Rosenthal.

I couldn't have been more pleased with Mr. Rosenthal. He called me after business hours to discuss my case and didn't seem to care about the fact he was working after hours, the only thing he seemed to care about was the details of my case and ensuring he had answered my questions to the best of his ability. I felt as if my situation was a pressing matter as it involved my son, and even though busy the next day, took time out of his schedule to meet with me. The sit down with him proved to be equally as genuine and helpful. He really took an interest in my situation even though it was probably one he sees frequently. He was able to get valuable information for me from even out of state, and advice on how to follow up and pursue my case. It being an out of state case, helping me further was out of his scope because of law differences between states however, within an hour or two after meeting, he followed up with me via cell phone and got me in contact with someone all the way across the state to help me further my case. He told me if there was anything he could do further to call him and let him know. This is something I am definitely going to do if the need arises. Mr. Rosenthal's compassion, professionalism, and sincere character was a breath of fresh air. I REALLY feel like I've got a professional on deck if I need him. Thank you very much Mr. Rosenthal, although our time may have been brief, you got me on the right track to pursue my case. Anyone who needs family law counsel I would advise to check him out first. He is the type that truly wishes to help people, and not just make a quick buck.

Mathew is a attorney who is knowledgable, caring and dependable.  I would highly recommend him to my friends and family!  Mathew was professional, and needless to say we won.  He did not overcharge me and was very reasonable.  Mathew exceeded my expectations!
