Lazy Monk Brewing was built out of a desire to serve our community with quality biers made in the old world tradition of the Czech Republic and Germany.

Story

We are a European craft brewery that focuses on traditional Bohemian and German Bier styles but we don't shy away from Ales or IPA's.

We have 14 taps of Bohemian and German Biers in our European Bier Hall. We also have an amazing German Bier Garden overlooking the beautiful Chippewa River in downtown Eau Claire.

Beers were good, didn't like that they didn't tell us beforehand that they only accept cash. Had to walk across the street to kwik trip.

If you're into a brewery with a very German feel, then Lazy Monk is the place for you. It is constructed in a German beer hall style with long wooden tables and wooden floors. This makes the acoustics a bit rough, especially on a weekend night, but it's also an enormous tap room that can accommodate lots of people. 

The beer is the usual Lazy Monk fare, favoring Czech and German style beers. Traditional and good. Oddly, they also serve beer from other breweries, which seems a bit different than most tap rooms. But I suppose if you're not down with Lazy Monk's brews, this would be a plus.

Occasionally they offer food trucks, which is a nice amenity, as they typically only serve soft pretzels which are delicious if you get them fresh or not-so-great after they've been sitting out for awhile.

Pluses: The new brewery location is definitely easier to find and I like that it's helping to build up an area of the city that was once kind of shady. The outside deck is great in the summer time. Highly recommend it.

Minuses: To my great dismay, they don't accept cards of any kind (credit or debit). Only cash. So come prepared for that. In this day of Stripe and Square, it baffles me when businesses don't accept credit cards. Also, super loud on even a moderately busy night.

Great beer selection and atmosphere! Would suggest accepting credit cards so we can start a tab next time. Also when we were there, the inside was really quiet. Would suggest playing some authentic German or Czech music. The outside patio is a great addition! Other than that it was great and we will definitely be coming back!

This place is a treasure. A welcoming beer hall with an outdoor patio, among its 14 taps are about a dozen made right here. And they are excellent, a refreshing invitation to old world styles that are often overlooked in the craft beer movement's obsession with hop-heavy ales.

Good addition to downtown, with excellent patio and I mostly enjoy the atmosphere. However, they don't accept credit cards and the German style beers give me a headache - This has occurred 3 times to me now and I'm not sure why because not many other beers do it to me.
