We were a party of 12. No food was left behind! :D I’m a huge fan of Le Colonial in Chicago. We decided to try the one in San Francisco. We’re so glad we did! Everything we ordered was delicious. A couple of times we doubled up on certain dishes because they were just that good! It was a fairly busy holiday evening; but, we were fortunate to be seated in a more private space with plenty of distance from other diners. The restaurant staff and our main server were working hard to take care of us and all the other guests there. We were grateful for their hospitality.
Ok, so hear me out, the place is beautiful and the food is delicious! If you want some great cuisine, go here! The service was wonderful, they are attentive and kind. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars is the desserts could use some work. The cheesecake is actually quiet good! However the Creme Brule had some issue, the custard was more like a wet quiche than a custard. The Passion Fruit Crumble has a good compote, but the crumble was dry and grainy. Would I go here again, yes! Would I suggest the establishment work on their dessert, yes! Vegetarian options: They did offer several plant based options. I did not partake as I like meat, but they do have them if you want.
Amazing service. Pretty welcoming. They have a pretty interesting variation of chillean sea bass cooked in banana leaves. Garlic noodles were overcooked, it was the only miss on the dinner. Amazingly refreshing spring rolls. Don't forget to check happy hour till 8pm at least on upstairs bar.
Beautiful restaurant once you walk inside the building, but the small street leading to the restaurant is horrendous, dirty, full of garbage and a few homeless along the side. Quite sad to see why the city is not taking care of the situation. Service is excellent, food comes in big portion, best for family style sharing. Generally speaking it was very good. However the crispy pork belly skin was not crispy but chewy. The crepe w lobster had very little lobster inside.
I had such a fantastic time here , From the drinks to the food everything was so good, it’s such a lovely colonial style restaurant. I ordered a Mai tai and my husband ordered tamarind margarita. Both were great, I loved the decor , there’s outdoor patio seating and indoor seating. Clean tables ,plates and linens . I was just bit irked when I found a huge housefly on my glass , but the server changed my glass immediately. We went for the restaurant week menu and we also ordered 2 extra appetizers from the menu . We were so amazed with the quality and quantity of the dishes . They ran out orange cranberry panacotta so we were offered to choose any dessert from the menu so we took the Duran cheesecake . They have parking lot and they do validate parking
This place was amazing! I really did not expect to be blown away by this dinner, but I was totally surprised. To be honest, the appetizers alone were so heavenly, I could have not eaten a main course and be completely fine, they were fulfilling and delicious. Definitely get the hoisin ribs! The meals were all filling portions and EVERYTHING tastes amazing! This was by far the best Vietnamese food I have had. Trust me, go here!
Classy joint for Vietnamese food with fairly formal service. Everything tasted great and it has a nice atmosphere for a dinner where you want to have good conversation. Thought the prices looked quite high but then realized that 20% service was already included.
The beef rib was really good. The vietnam source was also really good. In term of service, it was slow due to holiday. And they forgot to give us the welcome drink.
Wow, we were so impressed by this spot. The outdoor seating was enclosed and we stayed warm. We went for brunch and really enjoyed everything we got. There were several vegetarian options - a frittata and the French toast. There is paid parking next door or paid street parking in the area. Great service and great food!
Google maps review is very outdated! Most are prior to covid pandemic. At this price point 4 people for $325 restaurant is 2 star at best. Ate with 3 others, ordered fixed price with both the shaken beef and sea bass entrees. -ambience is nice -understaffed out on enclosed patio waiters are courteous and nice though -Brussels sprouts were quite good -wait for mains was quite long Onto the food now: The Chilean sea bass is bland, the vermicelli that it sits on was in clumps and not seasoned consistently. For anyone that has eaten vermicelli- you’ll know what I mean, it came out dried in a ball with only the bottom touching some sauce. Both the fish and vermicelli were flavorless The shaken beef is bland, the condiments added on top masks the texture and flavor, but once you eat just the beef, you’ll see how disappointing it is. There is no char and no spice profile at all - hallmark of shaken beef. The way the entrees are priced +15$ per each guest at the table means that the prices go up fast as your group is larger. Our table of 4 ended up spending 325 pre tip while only ordering 2 mocktails. At this price point, this should be serving 1 Michelin-Star food in terms of flavor and execution regardless of whether you believe in the rating system. Disappointing, I would avoid
