Le Pain Quotidien | Lincoln Park

Story

We’re a Belgian bakery and restaurant serving simple, wholesome and seasonal food. Le Pain Quotidien means “the daily bread” in French, and like our name suggests, we’re bakers at heart. Although our handmade, organic bread is how we got our start, we serve a variety of healthy options like organic coffee, pastries, eggs, tartines, soups, salads and desserts.

At Le Pain Quotidien, we believe that food should be simple, nourishing and delicious. That’s why we source ingredients that are local or organic whenever possible. We also believe in the importance of eating a healthy, plant-based diet, so you’ll find many vegetarian or vegan options on our menu.

Always enjoyable. Love their healthy options. Food looks so presentable. Great coffee. Good service and cozy atmosphere. Feel like at home.

They captured the French flavor in their Croque Monsieur. Welcoming service. Casual ambience.

My husband and I went here for breakfast without our three children. We sat down and a dirty table, with food not only on the floor but smudged on our table as well. I was told the tumeric tea was caffinated which was confusing, and then told it was not by someone else. I regret ordering it as it was seriously undrinkable 🤢 There was a dad sitting on a phone with two little kids who were screaming, crying and running up and down the booth. Not one staff member asked them to stop running and screaming. Not a good atmosphere and undrinkable tea, but the avocado toast was out of this world! Although I did order an over easy egg and they brought out an over hard one. The waiter offered to get an over easy eggs asap, but I declined.

Waiting 30min for breakfast from time of order. Main room empty. Asked server on 3 occasions how much longer and told each time "a few minutes" Finally got up & left. Paid for the coffee and ordered two bakery items on the way out @ take away counter. The Staff overcharged me for the bakery items, when they called the manger to come out to give me a refund, he told them to give me a free croissant? Finally he came out never apologized, refunded my CC, I left and will not be coming back!

On Tuesday my friends and I (5 total) stopped by at around noon. The place seemed nice, but turned sour. The hostess was nice, the waitress was not! Considering we'd never had this kind of food before it was fine. The waitress did not ask if our check was to be separate and brought us our bill all together. Seeing as hardly anyone carries cash these days this was very odd. We told her and she very rudely said "I can only split it three ways." This was her fault in the first place and put us in an uncomfortable position. She didn't even apologize for not asking. So we had to figure out a way to see who had cash and whatnot. We asked for our change. Some of us didn't get it, and some of us were a few cents short. This isn't a market, this is a restaurant, act like it! She didn't return! We got tired of waiting and left. Food was ok, but customer service was terrible. We won't be back.
