Stopped in from our morning walk for brunch. Everything was delicious! The service was great. This hidden gem on Market in New Albany is well worth a visit.
Stopped in on our tour of bakeries while we were in the area. This shop was decorated cutely, the service was friendly, and the food was fabulous. Will definitely come back if we are in the area again
Leaven Bakery is the hidden gem of New Albany! We have visited on two different mornings and each visit the food was equally amazing. When you walk in, you are immediately greeted happily by the owners/chefs as they cook and bake in the open concept kitchen right beside you. They have two dining rooms inside, and a few tables with umbrellas outside. It's open and spacious, and bright. The staff is so friendly. There is a case of made-from-scratch desserts and breads that sourdough, though that change. We have tried a lot of them, as well as two of their breakfast sandwiches. They make their sandwiches with fresh bread they bake themselves, and they are huge! Breakfast sandwiches are served with herbed potatoes. They serve drip coffee and offer organic juices and other beverages. I do have a few observations to share. If you plan to order a breakfast sandwich, make sure you have a little time to wait. Since everything is made to serve, it takes a little longer for the sandwiches. Secondly, I wish the menu was a little larger because I want to try more of their delicious creations! : We love this place!
Great little hometown bakery, fresh baked goods, great coffee, nice breakfast menu, you order at the counter and then go sit down and then bring the food to you, loved it here, and the food was fantastic, extra stars for the breakfast burrito it was great, also the breakfast potatoes where bomb
They have an absolutely awesome menu and their baked goods are legit to die for. No, seriously, I’m allergic to cinnamon and am obsessed with their cinnamon rolls, worth it 100%. My birthday cake came from here and it was the most beautiful and delicious cake I’ve ever had. This is also the only place I’ve ever managed to enjoy a salad from, everything is so fresh and delicious in them. I couldn’t recommend them more. The employees are phenomenal and go above and beyond and you can taste the love in their food. You won’t be disappointed with anything you get.
I was expecting the breakfast sandwich to be small, but it's definitely a full-sized sandwich with lots of things on it. It also comes with potatoes. Both were fantastic. I got a coffee, scone and muffin, as well. The food was all really good, as was the indoor/outdoor area of the bakery. The location is a bit conspicuous, but not completely out there. Not a ton of parking, but there's enough for the small area. Staff was polite and courteous. Price wasn't anything more than a place like Starbucks or Panera. The only improvement I can think of would be to have a bag for takeout my order was to-go and the two boxes, plus cup of coffee, made it difficult to carry out, but that's not that big of a deal. Absolutely worth a try, if you want to support a local business!
This is right next to our upcoming Airbnb/vacation rental and it is dangerously good! We love stopping in to buy fresh breads and pastries! If your looking for a quaint brunch spot with al fresco dining you will love this little gem.
Our first visit there for Sunday brunch was great. I had the Leaven’s Benedict and it was very good. They use a bechamel sauce instead of hollandaise and their house-made chorizo instead of Canadian bacon. It is not traditional but is awesome. Their chorizo is not real spicy but very flavorful and not greasy like most chorizo. My wife had avacado toast and bacon that she said was very good. The bacon was crisp, as it should be. We split one pancake for dessert and it was light, fluffy and good enough to need only a tiny bit of syrup. Forgot to get a pic of the pancake. The only opportunity for improvement would be to get the eggs served at a higher temperature. This can be a challenge when there are extra steps in plating a dish after the eggs have finished cooking. Definitely our new favorite place for Sunday brunch.
If you are looking for a local good quality Cafe/Bakery This place is a must go! Kudos to Chef Zac and Kimberly for their amazing hospitality and wonderful work. Early birds got all the pastries but we enjoyed our delicious Chiken pestos and goat cheese Salad. Definitely will go back for trying their Blueberry Danish and other goodies. Update: Another Great experience like always
5 stars is not enough. They are doing magic. Some of the best baked goods to go, but also stunning dine-in food, anywhere in the region. FWIW, lived in Paris for a few years, I'm telling you, Leaven goes toe-to-toe with the world class... all in a comfy, cozy place right here. Absolute magic.
