This week I received a speeding ticket and although I am not arguing I was speeding, as a Paramedic, I was on my way to work. What I am arguing is the lack of "professional courtesy" that was not extended. I'm certain if it was a Lehigh Twsp. fire fighter or magistrate office employee, such a courtesy would have applied. I'm more than happy with paying a fine because I am not above the law, but the officer could have "given a warning" or "reduced the speed/fine cost ($170.00)". My moral and ethical feelings are now in conflict after having worked side-by-side these officers my entire career, the next time an "officer down" or "officer needs assistance" call comes in, I'm not so sure how I am going to respond! The $10.00 dollar E.M.S. citation fund also amuses me since EMS no longer sees EMSOF funding to offset equipment and maintenance costs. When President Trump can consider a Pardon for a Sheriff who was convicted of criminal misconduct, I'm sure I'm not asking for much. There is no point in appealing the citation when you have a Magistrate who does nothing but "favor" the very police officers he worked with for years.

An officer stopped me to notify of a nonfunctional headlight. He was courteous, professional and helpful. Grateful to have good folks willing to serve!
