Absolutely the worst experience. Hey Florida DMV! I just left your tax collector office on the corner of Capital Circle and Apalachee at 2:37pm after arriving (before the doors opened) at 8:20am, I was charged the Initial registration fee of $225.00 during my attempt to renew my registration on my preexisting Florida license plate. I was previously exempt from the fee because I was stationed in Florida for the military. The manager at this location decided it was the proper course of action to charge me this fee despite the fact that she could produce no form or procedure that would support her assertion. I however noticed that the first exemption on page 7 of the "RS-30" form clearly states "The following situations are exempt from the Initial Registration fee, but DO NOT require an exemption reason or form HSMV 82002 [...] 1. The transaction is a registration renewal with an existing Florida license plate record." It was literally the first exemption that I fell under. Your manager continued to search for some sort of valid defense and could just barley manage to tell me that "Well, when you transfer a license plate from an antique car to a new car you must pay the initial fee." While i'm sure this piece of information would be wildly useful to someone with an antique car, my car is a 2003 and as such this information seems wasted on my circumstance. I am appalled at how my situation was handled and will be doing everything in my power to both draw attention to these on-goings as well as to justify the situation. Thank you for your time, and thank you for taking 6 hours of mine.

I had a very pleasant experience getting my driver's license there. The wait was fast, the staff was super nice, polite and helpful. Best DMV experience ever!

Typical DMV experience where it's clear people hate their job. Watch out for the angry black lady with the bad weave ... 9:00 am is far too early to have such a funky attitude for no reason at all. Highly disappointed as I've never had a bad experience here yet. Won't return.
