Story

Since 1938, Leon’s Restaurant has been synonymous with North Haven and exceptional Italian food. Family owned and operated, the tradition continues on Washington Avenue in North Haven, Connecticut.

Today, Edward E. Varipapa, Executive Chef and Owner. Leon's offers its customers exceptional International and Italian dishes in a friendly, comfortable, family atmosphere. Leon's famous signature creations--Pane Cotto, Gypsy Chicken and Pork Tenderloin Calabrese, to name just a few--are prominently featured on the menu along with the famous ever-changing "Goodie List".

Leon's is conveniently located on Washington Avenue (Rt 5) in North Haven with easy access from the Merritt Parkway (Rt 15) and I-91. And as always ample free parking.

I was there for a business meeting but I will definitely be back on a personal visit. The Tuesday night 4 course menu was very impressive.

3.8 stars was helped by the times in New Haven, THIS is a different place!

To be fair, I've visited Leon's 4 times in the last 2 years BEFORE writing any review.  All 4 experiences were sub par, I'd call that really fair.  Food quality is the problem here.

As for tonight, in a nut shell...  Pane cotto was dry (actually burned on one side), sauce was crazy acidic as it must sit on a stove ALLL week, Tagliolini has an inaccurate description. On a previous visit, I was told that the improperly cooked risotto was correct "because it had aborio rice."  Thats not meant to be funny...

We left without the included dessert. Check came to 82.XX, paid with a 100, got 17 back. Obviously I don't care about the 40 cents change, but this just goes to show something else about our monotone service.  Can't blame her though.... speed of the leader=speed of the crew, right?  ...the owner was playing with Halloween toys at the big table 20 feet away.

There's no question why they are serving a 6 table dinner service.  I am jumping on that wagon, I won't be back to waste more time or money.  I should also state....the way to raise profits is NOT by high prices. I'd pay what you asked for good food. There's plenty in the area that proves that.  Amici, Bellini's, Park Central, Ludals, Luce.  Christ, at this point I'd go across the street to Outback. Sorry. I hope this means something to the staff.

We had an office Happy Hour here. They were very accommodating.  The food and service was great.  Would definitely do it again.

Great restaurant. We were there for happy hour recently, great people, great food. So accommodating. I've been there on occasions for dinner, Sunday supper, it was great.

I really like the atmosphere with soft lighting and muted colors. The food runs from good to excellent. I am very picky. We come here often, it is worth the visit.
