This place is awesome! Amazing views and very relaxing. It had everything we needed and was very clean. Our hosts, Joyce and her husband were super friendly and informational. Breakfast was delicious. I'd recommend it anyone looking for a great getaway place in an area full of outdoor activities. We will surely be back!

If you are looking for a place to stay or a B & B in Buena Vista, you can't do better than Liar's Lodge. Don't let the whimsical cartoon fisherman on the web site fool you, this place is absolutely classy and lovely and there's nothing even slightly hokey or good ol' boy about it. In fact, we had a girl's weekend here, if that tells you anything. The lodge building is beautiful with a huge high-ceiling sun room that is bright and warm in the nice weather and cozy with a fireplace in the colder weather or at night. The lodge sits rights on the banks of a rushing river and is surrounded by mountains, rocks, trees, birds, etc., with a great back deck right on the river. However, as rustic and natural as the setting is, it is less than a mile's walk into town (Buena Vista) so it is truly the best of both worlds. Breakfast is sophisticated and scrumptious and creative, with different offerings each day and everything homemade, including the baked goods and even the bacon. The rooms are charming and super comfortable. The husband and wife proprietors are warm and friendly and helpful without being the least bit overbearing. The wife is a talented local artist and the husband is an expert fisherman. So . . . if you DO want to make your stay about fishing, you certainly CAN, but that's not all the wonderful Liar's Lodge is about. What it's also about is a beautiful and reasonably priced place to stay in Buena Vista, close to everything, but far enough that you're in nature and not in town. We loved our stay there and can't wait to go back.
