Lillian's Italian Restaurant

About

We are a small family run Italian restaurant. Our food is influenced by our Sicilian heritage and New York roots.

Story

Lillian’s Italian Kitchen opened quietly on July 4, 2007. It’s a joint venture of the owners, Joe and Charlotte Moreno and their sons Chris and Matt.

Long time residents of Santa Cruz, the Moreno’s dream was to open a neighborhood place that was an extension of their family kitchen. The inspiration was Grandma Lilly’s wonderful home cooking. Lillian was devoted to family and friends and her life was greatly fulfilled by her love and passion for cooking. Born in Yonkers, New York, Lillian was able to combine traditional Sicilian recipes learned from her parents and the many Italian influences in her neighborhood.

Chef Chris honors Lillian’s family recipes as well as offering a variety of fresh and creative additions to the menu while Matt makes sure guests feel at home. Good food, good friends, great prices and straight from the heart. Tutti a mangiare!

Wonderful top notch Italian food as always now in a larger capacity space. From apps to dessert the menu is strong. Go for the full experience. Be prepared for a somewhat noisy room though as the seating is open and sound carries in this popular place. Tip is to go early right when they open at 4pm for the most relaxing experience...

This used to be my favorite restaurant in town: nobody makes better Italian food. Every dish was perfect. The service was fantastic. The ambiance was warm, intimate, and comfortable. The food and service are same, but they have moved to a bigger space, which they desperately needed to do. The space is WAY too echo-y, though. The entire place is filled with dozens of people yelling just to be heard by their fellow diners. The din was unrelenting. It was a pleasure to duck into the bathroom just to give my poor ears a rest. The wait staff must be experiencing ear damage. I wonder if sound dampeners on the ceiling would help. Anything, please, to restore this restaurant to 5-star!

The food is great but our waitress was completely out of it. It was my husband's birthday and she forgot and when I discreetly went up to her and asked her about it, she came back to the table and announced "oh yeah, do you still want to do the cake and candle thing now that you've already ordered dessert?" Ugh.

The restaurant was pretty full when we got there but we were seated right away. I think we made it just before their dinner rush. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. We had chicken parmesan and lasagna. They were both so delicious but if I had to choose one I would have to get the lasagna.

Tasty Italian food , but very pricey for what it is. Almost always a wait to be seated, noisy, and more than $20 a plate for basic fare. But I can make better spaghetti carbonara at home for the family for what they charge for a single serving.
