Wow. So large and so powerful. Neat things to look for include the 48 stars for the state's of the time of the remodel. The 36 brass eagles for the 36 states of his time. The 16 marble pillars for him being our 16th president. I love the symbolism used all around it.

Beautiful resting place. Sounds odd but this cemetery is a beautiful place to walk around. Very interesting to see all the old tombstones from Lincoln's era. We even stumbled across Lincoln's old neighbor from the 1850's.

This monument where President Lincoln is buried is a very solemn and yet exciting place to visit. It is worth the drive to visit this monument.

Visiting Oak Ridge Cemetery was interesting. It was part of our day trip to Springfield where we also saw Lincoln's home, etc. It is a lovely resting place for the President and his family. The sculptures and tomb are a beautiful tribute.

No visit to Springfield is complete without stopping at Lincoln's tomb. This enormous monument towers over everything else within a mile of the site. Just as interesting as the tomb itself is the story behind the grave robbery attempt in 1875. Make sure to rub the nose of the statue outside for good luck.
