It is a very large and nice cemetery situated above Dubuque, providing fantastic views of downtown & the Mississippi river. The road leading to it is uphill and winding. I didn't really find any parking as I drove through the grounds, just a few little pull offs to the side of the road. Grounds were kept well. Peaceful. Lots of American flags were flying when we visited, right after Memorial Day.

I recently visited Linwood Cemetery and was pleasantly surprised with the service I received. First I stopped at the office where I was kindly greeted by two young women who helped me by mapping out where all my family was interred. They took the time to explain to me not only where my family was at, but if they had tombstones or not. From the office I began my adventure into the cemetery. I was very impressed with the amount of unique statues and stones I saw. Using the map I received from the office I was able to locate all but one of the grave sites. I was approached by a large gentleman on a motor cart who introduced himself as the grounds manager and asked if he could assist me. I showed him the map, and he pointed me right to the site. I thanked him for his assistance. He said if I needed anything else to let him know. I've been to cemeteries all over the area doing my family tree and have never received the assistance I have at Linwood. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! A++++++

It is a beautiful old cemetery where my family has a sectioned off family-plot. I have visited a handful of times but was disappointed this last time to see that the largest family monument lost its top. I know these things happen, but I would have liked to been able to find an office or someone to help me so that I might give my information in case the stone further deteroriates, then they may contact me. It was also a little more difficult to navigate- I think some of the markers pointing the way have disappeared or writing has worn away. Still, a loving resting place and always quiet and peaceful to visit.

My son who is 3 months shy of 18 went to put a flower on his girlfriends grave who died off pneumonia at the age of 15,one of the staff proceeded to yell at my son that only 18 year olds and over could come in,is this true, because as long as he was not hurting anyone or anything he should of been fine to say good bye to his loved one, what type of cemetery are you running he the worker threatened to call the cops on him,im so glad I got my plot for my family at mount calvary l I will never recommend linwood cemetary to anyone,as a matter of fact my ex boyfriend just died and was buried there last week a big mistake on his familys part all my son wanted to do was say he missed her what a waste of a beautiful cementary maybe the TH might want to know about whats going on about visiting of peoples loved ones

We were at Linwood since my grandfather was being buried there. After the services at the Chapel my mother, sister, her boyfriend, 2 of their children, me, my partner and our 2 children, my cousin, her husband and her 2 children drove around to the gravesite, my fathers gravesite is right next to it. So we put a flower on his then some guy came out and explained that we cant be by the hole they had dug. As we turned to return to our cars Jon Perry came out screaming at us to get out of there that we were told not to come up there ( we were told no such thing until we talked to the first guy who was pleasant and we were already returning to our cars). We then just explained that we wanted to put a flower or two in the side vase on the stone, He then took the flower and threw it in the hole and continued to scream at us to get out of there and that he is calling the police and that we are now banned from the cemetery. My mother was pleaing with him to show some respect and empathy for our family. We then said we would just go and talk to the office about his behavior. He followed us down to the chapel where the chapel assistant was leaving and he continued to scream at us while we are talking to the chapel assistant about what he had just done. He called the police and we got his name and we left since the office wasn't open. As we have been in contact with the office we find out that Jon Perry of Dubuque, Iowa who is the Groundskeeper has been lying and denying events of the horrific incident! We have been in contact with others that have had to work with Jon Perry through other companies that have work contacts with linwood that this isn't the only issue of something like this that has involved Jon Perry. If you are going to bury a loved one and consider linwood, you may want to reconsider as long as Jon Perry is employed for linwood. Please don't let your family have to deal with this kind of treatment when they are mourning.
