Founded in 1982, Lion & Compass instantly became the clubhouse for the movers and shakers of a flourishing tech industry in a young Silicon Valley. A precedence of excellence in service and cuisine filled the needs of its sophisticated and well traveled diners. Lion & Compass was the place to see and be seen. Blending contemporary and traditional styles, the restaurant incorporated authentic nineteenth century objects from the original Lion & Compass pub in Halifax, England. The New York Times compared its prominence in Silicon Valley to Sardi’s in Manhattan’s theater district. Business travelers felt a trip to Silicon Valley was incomplete without at least one meal at the Lion & Compass. Thirty-two years later, the Lion & Compass maintains its reputation as “the barometer of Silicon Valley.” With the original ownership and management still in place, the Lion & Compass plans to extend its legendary reputation well into the future.
