I am a former student of Lithia Springs Elementary School in 1975-1976. My homeroom teacher was Mr Endsley. The principal was David Gilliland. He passed away the following year.  This school was horribly abusive to children in the 1970's. Teachers paddled and terrorized students over trivial things like failing to have homework ready. My social studies teacher was Mrs Savage. She verbally abused children by calling us names, said "You're as dumb as a doorknob." She had a bad temper and she kicked books and students bookbags if they were in the aisles next to the desks. I saw two girls get put against the wall in the back of the school and paddled hard by a teacher because they were walking too far on the playground.  I am now 51 years old and I am mad as hell about the way children were treated then. I was shy, quiet, scared and I had no voice, but no more. I am going to scream the rest of my life about the abuse of public schools until the day I die. I attended other abusive schools too like Calvin Wiley Elementary school in Greensboro, NC. I took my kids out of school to homeschool them. I will never have kids in the public school. Abuse  happens and kids are too scared to speak up.
