I really like this library and have been going there for years. It is an older library, sort of out of the 70s, but it fits in with the little town of Los Altos feel. Many young and many old come here. People study hard here and they have a good online book reserve system online (it's a Santa Clara County library). I've always found it to be a pleasant and welcoming place. Sometimes, there are older men reading papers in different languages who will fall asleep in chairs while reading. I always like that and it demonstrates the comfort and community feel of the place.

I use this library primarily for picking books for my kids. They have great collection for kids and toddlers besides everything else. Toddlers can also spend time working on LEGO table or the train table.

Having not been in a public library in ~15yrs, I walked in here with a simple question about the books I had and needed.  Since all my memories of public libraries prior to this are fond and full of smiling and overly helpful librarians, it was a shock to be met with scowls, annoyance, and overall rudeness.  There was also some passive aggressive commentary made by some random library patron who did not have anything to do with the situation but felt the need to interject without actually engaging.  My questions and myself were clearly unwelcome in this place.  0/10, would not recommend.

Wonderful staff and a great space. From cozy nooks to wide open tables, you can find a spot made for you. Whenever I'm looking for books in the county's online catalog, Los Altos almost always has it, making one-stop borrowing eady. Super fast and easy checkout. Decent parking lot but seems like it's often quite full.
