There's free parking! The hike is on a dirt path going up the mountain and the views just get better and better. I only went to the first observation point great view on downtown LA and the coast. Wish the path was a little wider sometimes you have to stop and let people pass but other than that wear comfy shoes and bring water.

Gorgeous views! But on the far end of the moderate scale. Steady incline, very few shaded areas. I suggest this to someone active or has some hikes under their belt. It's a rewarding challenge.

Views are great!  The parking can be somewhat difficult on the narrow street, and there are tons of people.  Once you finish the initial 1.3 miles, the crowd thins out a bit.  You can see the city and ocean on this hike.

Excellent 3-4 hour hike to the Parker Mesa Overlook.  Great views of the coast and of L.A.  beyond Santa Monica.

From the Overlook, I took the direct (and somewhat unmarked) path down the front ridge but wouldn't do that again.  It was as steep as I thought but it was slivery with loose sand and loose rocks.  Just go back the same way you went up.

Great hike. Feels a tad bit more of a forest than other places you'd typically hike around in southern California - meaning it's more green and not as dry. The view of the ocean is beautiful! For dog owners, I believe you can't bring them here unfortunately. (Paths are very narrow at points)
